Gun Owners Shot Down Missouri Gov's Reelection Bid (Note To Libs: GUN OWNERS *VOTE*!)

Missouri Gov. Bob Holden, a Democrat, is one of the few sitting governors ever to lose a primary election. But Holden should have seen it coming because of his anti-gun stand, a Second Amendment group said on Wednesday.

Holden's defeat should serve as an object lesson for other politicians who place political correctness ahead of the personal safety of their constituents, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) said in a press release.

"Show Me State gun owners showed Bob Holden the door," said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. "Although they tried to downplay it, both the St. Louis Post Dispatch and Kansas City Star acknowledged that Holden's veto of concealed carry legislation cost him critical votes, especially in rural Missouri."

Missouri lawmakers returned to the state capital to override Holden's veto.

"Bob Holden's veto last year got Missouri gun owners mad, and on Tuesday, gun owners got even," Gottlieb said. "The governor's other leadership problems on education, the economy and social issues certainly crippled him, but his anti-gun philosophy was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back."

CCRKBA Executive Director Joe Waldron said Gov. Holden should serve as an example to other anti-gun politicians who may be tempted to underestimate the fury of gun owners. "Grassroots activism in the firearms community is alive and well, as Tuesday's primary vote demonstrated." Waldron said Holden's defeat proves politicians cannot give lip service to gun rights and personal protection -- while voting otherwise. "Gun owners are out there, in the tall grass, and they don't forget," he said.

That's right: mess with our guns and you'll wish you were never born. One Term Bob found out the hard way what happens when you cross gun owners; you cross them only at your peril.

O T B said he would veto ANY concealed carry legislation, and he did.

O T B has been vetoed from office.

And the ban on gay marriage helped to defeat Holden. One district ran out of Republican ballots because of the unexpected large turnout of Republicans. They had to photocopy and hand count extra ballots.

I almost wish that they hadn't voted him out of the race at this point.. He would have helped increase the Republican turn out in November.

I expect that more conservative Democrats also came out to vote on the gay marriage ban, and this defeated Holden.

I hope gun owners turn out in mass in Nov to stop hanoi john. His 20 years of voting for gun control are 20 to many. We don't need him in the WH with his fingers wrapped around ink pens issuing EO's and appointing anti-2Amendment justices and judges...Stroke of the Pen, Law of the Land, cool as one klintoon goon said.

A good reminder to both parties.

Let the AWB sunset.

If there is one issue that will tank Bush in November, this is it if he signs any bill extending AWB. You just don't mess with 5 million NRA members, 1 million GOA members, and the second amendment sisters. Gore found that out the hard way.

I agree whole heartedly. I have donated to Bush Cheney. But, if this bill arrives at his desk and he signs it, he will not get my vote. It's that important.

I love it when an anti-gun politician bites the dust. I presume, he thought pro-gun votes were going to give him a pass. I am proud of those in the , "Show Me State" that kicked the fool out of his gravy train. Those who beat their guns into plow shears, will plow for those who don't. It's a second amendment thing, Commies-liberals and sheeple don't understand.Bush/Cheney 2004

Jet;

You'll take some flack for admitting that GWB could lose your vote by continuing to turn against his RKBA "base" (or should I say "former base"?).
But not from me.

Our two RINO Senators from Maine have both come out solidly and on no uncertain terms for a permanent AWB. Neither of them ever saw a tax, an abortion, or a Klinton they didn't fall right in love with, apparently.

Yet Maine Republicans are routinely expected to turn out whenever one of them comes up for re-election and (if the least bit "conservative") hold our noses to vote for them, as the election of their even more hardcore socialist/communist opponents would be just untenable.

Like Allan KEYES says; "The lesser of two evils is still evil.".
And I'm getting real sick of only having the options of communism or socialism to choose from at the polls.

As far as I'm concerned, any politician who wants to disarm / dis-empower "We the People" does NOT want to serve or represent us; they want to RULE OVER us. And that goes for "Rs" as much as it does for "Ds".

At what point will "We the People" be forced to decide between LOSING our 2nd amendment rights to a despotic government, (as Australian, British, and Canadian Subjects already have) or USING them to make one last stand for American Liberty?

Probably about the time the Gestapo shows up at our door after we "forget" to register our guns and pay taxes for the privilege of owning them a little longer, don't you suppose?

At over 600,000 casualties and embers of bitterness that still smolder 145 years later, the first American Civil War was bad enough... do we really want a second one?

If our "leaders" keep competing with each other to see which ones get to rule over a nation of subjugated, helpless, dependent and compliant American sheeple without ever having to worry about being held accountable before God or Free Citizen, then we might just find out, eh?
Is the Old American Tree of Liberty really all that due for another "manuring", as ADAMS put it, lest it wither and fall?
The best time to shake off chains is before they are welded around our necks, my Friends.
And much less blood tends to be shed that way, in the long run.

Much to Missouri's credit, they seem to have done just that, to some significant extent, at least, via the legitimate, peaceful Democratic process.
And in that process, leaving a deposed would-be despotic ruler with a bent welding rod and his tanks all out of gas, a pile of unwanted chain rusting at his feet.
Well done!

May our Descendants continue to enjoy that luxury for many generations to come!

Vigilance!;

UJ

One BIG reason I am all for TERM LIMITS.  We need to get rid of these two 'lady?' RINO's from the state of Maine.  And I DO hold my nose when I have to cast a vote for them.  And I HATE it!

I am not a gun owner, but I will fight for the rights of those that do!  The government let the Muslim's move in all across the United States, and now the Government wants to take away our GUNS?  Something doesn't pass the smell test here.  I don't believe we should have one without the protection of the other.

Gov. Bob Holden (D) not favored to win re-election against the field, 9 to 10 (47.4% chance to be re-elected)

What was the actual primary result?

Yes, indeed. Right now, I'm absolutely for Bush (more because he's not Kerry, but GWB has done a number of important things right)...but if there is ANY legislation that he signs which reduces my ability to purchase firearms or their accessories IN ANY WAY AT ALL, then I'll spend Election Day reloading instead of voting.

Are you listening, Karl?

Romney just revoked the most basic right of the citizenry and replaced it with paying for the privelidge of hunting ducks.
