I forgot to mention this.

That quote could come back to haunt Jones.

I got that distinct impression myself. Why did Jones avoid all of those questions in the press conference and then throw Newy a piece of bait like that?

Welcome to the new Dallas reality series!!!

I remember seeing Hutchinson playing in an NFLE game not to long ago. He got sacked several times just like he did in Dallas. Someone needs to tell him that you can't complete a pass while you are flat on your back.

I'm not ready for Hutchinsons return just yet.

I hope Henson has been keeping up with film and the play book.
I don't see Vinny lasting too long.

You gotta admit that the guy's ego probably thinks HE could pick up the coaching reigns where Parcells leaves off if he gets fed up and quits (God forbid!).

At one point in time that was true, but things have changed. Here's how I see it.

Jerry Jones, Jimmy Johnson, and Bill Parcells all achieved Super Bowls. Each of them were considered to be geniuses in the world of football. Then, a sad thing happened. They forgot that other people contributed to their success. Jones and Johnson, in particular, forgot that as long as Super Bowl rings rolled in at the rate of one a year, everyone thought both of them were geniuses. If they had been able to check their egos at the door, and kept working together, there's no doubt the Cowboys would have at least six, and possibly seven Super Bowl rings. The 49ers would have been second with four (no way Frisco wins the 93 title game if Johnson is coaching instead of Switzer). NFL history, all theirs, all blown away because of two egos, not one. Johnson made some pretty bonehead blunders in his first year, although his rapid recovery causes most of us to forget them. Remember him running off the field after his first preseason game, acting like he'd won the Rose Bowl? Remember him picking up Steve Walsh in the supplemental draft, using a draft pick which later turned out to be the number one pick in the NFL? Junior Seau could have been a Cowboy. Also, Emitt Smith wasn't Johnson's first choice as a running back. He wanted to take Blair Thomas, but the Jets had already drafted him.

Anyway, the last ten years have been tough on all three. Johnson retreated back to the broadcast booth, with significantly fewer credentials than he had before the Miami experiement. Jones and Parcells though, are now both in their sixties. They know that their time is limited in the NFL, and they both desperately want another ring. That's why Jones finally hired a coach that wasn't a sock puppet and Parcells quit trying to find a team with owners that he could push around. I think each of them is willing to subdue their egos to win at least one last Super Bowl, and if they get there, I think this time, both will admit that someone else helped them.

You all suck.

There, I just had to get that in there.

That's what I love about Dallas Cowboy fans. They're so very eloquent and classy. And such graceful losers. They're renowned for that, you know.

;-)

I don't think SD is going to let Flutie go with Rivers holding out. Brees still hasn't proven himself, so I don't think they'd feel comfortable with just him and no Flutie or Rivers. I think the SD plan is probably to give Brees one last chance, but have Flutie waiting in the wings to play this year and to be a mentor to Rivers like he's tried to be for Brees. Then by next year, it will be Rivers turn with Flutie backing him up.
