CANTON -- A Canton woman whose son died in Iraq says she was touched by President Bushs compassion when he met with soldiers families while campaigning in northeast Ohio over the weekend.
Julie Barkey says the president not only shook her hand, he gave her a hug and kissed her on the cheek. And she says Bush had tears in his eyes as he expressed his sorrow.

This story ran on the 7:00 news tonight and that was the first time I heard it reported anywhere. Since I didn't see it on FR and I think everyone should be aware of what the President did, I registered so as to share with you. There was much more in the video that I saw and I hope they get it up on thier web site. A bunch of your e-mails to wkyc.com might do the trick. I was moved by the fact that President Bush took time out from his campaign for a private meeting with the familys of these heroes instead of turning the event into a photo-op.
Bush never grandstands this stuff and always keeps it private. The lives of his soldiers are sacred to him, not to be exploited. This leaves an opening for the Left to accuse him of "not caring", "not going to funerals", etc. His critics know better, but they are shameless liars without honor.
A wonderful first post. And a big thank you.
Welcome. This is a wonderful article. It was very moving. So glad you registered to share it.
Here is an article that ran in yesterdays local paper about the President meeting up with the soldiers families

You said it well, but let me add that the left shamelessly exploits military deaths by faulting Bush for not being on the scene of every transport that unloads flag-draped coffins, wringing his hands in woe.
The President shows his class again. Unlike Comrade Communist Kerry who demigods everything, no matter who gets hurt.
How many families has John Kerry consoled? To keep with his tradition, he's have to take time off his campaign and travel to Iran or Syria to console the families of Al-Quaida or to Iraq to console families of the insurgents.
You can read an incredibly touching article detailing this encounter at the following thread:
