'Shove it' still reverberating
Washington Times ^ | 8/03/04 | Jennifer Harper

Posted on 08/02/2004 9:47:20 PM PDT by kattracks

Teresa Heinz Kerry's "shove it" phrase to a Pittsburgh editor was the most cited Kerry campaign message in the press last week — mentioned 381 times in American publications, according to Factiva, a Dow Jones/Reuters company that tracks daily press mentions.
But the two words also brought death threats, insults and accusations upon Colin McNickle, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review editorial-page editor who vexed Mrs. Kerry by asking her to explain her claim that "un-American traits" were emerging in politics.

In a Boston Globe interview, singer Patti LaBelle advised Mrs. Kerry to "pimp slap" Mr. McNickle; liberal columnist Molly Ivins suggested he had inappropriately "touched" Mrs. Kerry; and former Baltimore Sun columnist Jack Germond told CNN that Mr. McNickle "was not a legitimate newspaperman."
He responded in a Tribune-Review column Sunday, explaining he was only seeking an example of "un-American traits" from Mrs. Kerry, but "I got a finger in the face and was told to 'shove it.' I have been told worse things by more important people."
A mention of Mr. McNickle's column in Editor & Publisher was picked up by the Drudge Report yesterday, ultimately reversing the firestorm of criticism, Mr. McNickle said.
"Today, I got 1,700 e-mails in four hours, most supportive, saying I'd done a good job," Mr. McNickle said.
"But you know what?" he pointed out. "Mrs. Kerry never answered my question."

Death threats for merely asking a (legitimate) question. I would say this is unbelievable, but alas it's all too believable.

Has she apologized yet? A First Lady who does something like this should apologize.

Another celebrity to add to the boycott list...no Patti LaBelle records for me!

"Shut Up and Sing" is REALLY good advice!

It's really something how the DIMS think that telling a person to shove it is a good thing. She's an angry woman, and sKerry's an angry man. I can still see him jumping all over the guy at a rally who asked him what foreign leaders he had referred to. Howard Dean, Al Gore, Ted Kennedy...these are such angry bitter people.

This is just sick...

Did you hear what she said today? Unbelievable...

(this is from Yahoo)

Heinz Kerry subtly questioned Republican President Bush's intellect, saying: "It's vital for anyone with intelligence to acknowledge mistakes and change positions -- hello."

When a Bush supporter with a bullhorn shouted "four more years" from the back of a large crowd packed into a downtown Milwaukee park, Heinz Kerry, who was introducing her husband, responded: "They want four more years of hell."

So much for being civil, huh?

I may be overreaching, but I think it is possible that the remark has had a profound impression on potential voters. On the one hand we have seen Laura Bush, an example of beauty, intelligence, and grace. On the other hand, we have seen TeRAYza - an example of rudeness, coarseness, and possible mental instability. I think the potential voters have recoiled from her, and by extension, from her sissy husband.

She'd make a pretty impressive first lady - NOT! Proof positive here that lots and lots of money doesn't buy CLASS.

Patti La Belle and Te-RAY-zah can "Voulez-vous" in a corner and be the "pimpettes."

She's a weird bitch, he's a phony dork, and the majority of the American people know it (or sense it). They don't have a chance in hell.

singer Patti LaBelle advised Mrs. Kerry to "pimp slap" Mr. McNickle.... I wonder if Ms. LaBelle would give this advice to her daughter. This is just so becoming of ladies of dignity: "pimp slap", "shove it". Yeah, folks, this is the type of people we need in close proximity to the highest office in the land. Ms. LaBelle apparently relapsed into the mind-set of her first profession. I wonder how many times her pimp slapped her.

What the paper didn't tell us is that it was John who made the calls. LOL! ;-)

She NEVER HAS apologized, and THAT is the real scandal here! That plus Kerry refusing to correct her.

That cost Kerry a percentage point or two for defending her, when ALL of America could CLEARLY hear she said the word "UN-AMERICAN"

Kerry should have had no-comment at first, then gone to Mrs. Kerry and said

But the world now sees quite clearly John FinK has no `nads.

(and the dems would elect this wussie for Command in Chief, and C.E.O. of our Nation ??? )
