Democrats truly want to kill us:

Washington (AP) - City officials blasted the closure of a Capitol Hill street running between two Senate office buildings on Tuesday, calling it a "sneak attack" based on outdated information.

Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton said the city has had ongoing discussions with U.S. Capitol security officials about closing part of 1st St. in Northeast Washington near Union Station.

"We won't concede to a close down as a knee-jerk response. I don't care if it's a red alert," Norton said.

"This was a sneak attack on the District of Columbia based on old information," said Councilwoman Sharon Ambrose, D-Ward 6.

I wish I could leave now RR........CK doesn't have time off until then.

Also having trouble finding an economical way to move my stuff. Because of the # of people leaving California there is a shortage of trailers so the cost is $1000.00 to rent a lousy trailer. Can you believe that?

Texas is definitely safer with better gun laws than Calif.

We will definitely send an invitation.

Thinking of running a FR thread starting with CK kidnapping the WCG Nascar InfoBabe from California road trip. lol

Don't want to be an alarmist, but our nation's smallest cities and towns need to be as prepared as the largest ones, and their citizens need to be aware they may need to defend themselves and their families.

Might not be such a good idea for them. The folks in small cities and towns tend to be much better armed, and with an attitude when it comes to being threatened. They might find themselves like the James gang in their ill fated Northfield (MN) raid. Dead, all shot to pieces or in jail or both of the latter two. (except the James brothers themselves)

Thank you for that info. That would be great to keep getting news that we're making visible progress. Maybe we'll reel in a really big fish like al-Zaraqawi, al-Zawahiri, or binny himself. I've got my fingers crossed.

Not Atkins. I've lost forty pounds and kept it off on The South Beach Diet. Oh could I tell you stories about taking vacations plotted around the locations of quilt or bead shops. My wife makes her own jewelry and sells it too. Isn't Austin a really liberal part of Texas? I loved Austin when I visited my beloved Sportsmobile factory. Someday, I'll be able to afford one of those. Someday. But I've heard from other freepers that Austin is a nightmare for the conservative Christian gunowner.

I don't think its Zarqawi - the actions in iraq don't indicate that any kind of successful leadership "take down" has occurred - just my opinion.

A beautiful post. You just described my father. Now 88 years old. A warrior, a patriot, and a gentle man....and humble survivor of WWII.

He lives with us now.....and I thank him everyday for his service.....and because I don't have to speak Japanese or German.

He is a constant inspiration.

Wonderful words and sentiment.

Thank you.

Mr. RR and I met Joe Foss. An absolutely incredible, awe-inspiring man, even in his advanced age.... and what a sense of humor! Our evening with him is a memory we'll treasure forever.

Thanks for remembering him on this thread.

Careful. We're not supposed to talk about that. ; )

Breaking News in Philadelphia....just on 11:00 newscast...nothing yet on any web-sites.

Church Steeple collapses on a large stone historic church in Philadelphia. Built in the mid to late 1800's. Weather is clear, no storms or other odd weather to report.

Video from the scene shows a huge pile of stone rubble.

I will update once the info. reaches the news web site. I find this concerning, considering the Christian church bombings in Iraq yesterday.
