Ok..can anyone tell me where things stand in the Senate race and GOP control of the Senate and House for that matter...everyone (liberals and Conservatives alike) are telling me that its not looking good for the GOP in either the House or the Senate.

I don't think we will lose CO, OK or AK. IL is all but lost. If W starts to pull ahead we may pick up all five open southern seats (GA, SC, NC, FL and LA). Outside chance in SD. Thune has a chance. It's early still, allot can happen.

Conclusion: GOP gains two to five seats (probably three), but one of those gains is illusory because Zell Miller is being replaced by a "moderate" Republican.

I love Zell, but get real. American Conservative Union lifetime ratings:

Isakson - 84
Miller - 65

And I think when all is said and done the GOP will keep CO.

We will not lose either. It's a matter of how many we gain. W will start to pull ahead and he will have coattails.
I would be cautious believing the spin out there now.

Don't let the ACU rating fool you. Miller has become much more conservative in the last year or so.

Also, Isakson has something like a 40% Planned Parenthood rating.

In Florida where Katherine Harris would be winning, the GOP has fallen behind

Karl Rove strikes again.

Because Karl is believed to be behind the decision to ask Harris to wait till next Senate election.

I didn't say he was to "blame" for anything. Rove pressured Harris to stay out for his chosen candidate--Martinez. I am not going to say this choice is doomed, although I would much prefer Ms Harris as Senator. We need more GOP women, and especially ones who are not RINOs.

Martinez is a very strong conservative candidate who could beat any of the three Democrats who are running here in Florida. The most recent polls show McCollum losing to all the Democrats. Martinez is actually more conservative than McCollum, but he draws hispanic voters that would normally vote Democrat.

I'm volunteering to help Martinez, although I helped McCollum in 2000. McCollum is running the same kind of lame campaign he did then. We need Martinez to win the primary--and we'll get a good pro-life, pro-family, conservative Senator to replace Bob Graham.
