US troops have surrounded the home of wanted Shi'ite Muslim radical leader Moqtada al Sadr in the Iraqi city of Najaf, according to reports.
More follows...
These guys condemning the killings reminds me of all those Palestinian spokespeople condemning killings. Total crap.
The other rabble-rousers will take notice of what happens when you incite violence against our troops.
Violence is the only way to deal with these #@%&%&#^*%s
Oh, I haven't forgotten! I'll be back in one piece. I promise. :-)
Amen. May The hand of The Lord protect our brave troops.
1--10 We count how we want !! You lose !!
Yahoo-AFP- US troops surrounded the home of wanted Shiite Muslim radical leader Moqtada Sadr in the central Iraqi holy city of Najaf, an AFP correspondent witnessed. US armoured vehicles, backed by Iraqi security forces, cordoned off the Al-Zahra neighbourhood, where Sadr's home is located in the eastern part of the city. Smoke was seen rising from the area Monday amid the sound of heavy gunfire, mortar fire and rocket-propelled grenade explosions.
I'm surprised nobody has offered the theory that al Sadr could be providing refuge to other, more interesting folks, and that this is why we've got his place surrounded...
Good
You've gotta be getting "short" over there, aren't you?
"Those of us who are serious support our military's decisions and don't join the Pop-Off Brigade's mindless criticism. We get enough of that from the RATmedia."
The problem is six months ago a decision was made that wasn't what the military wanted to do, eliminate al Sadr and his "militia". That was a pure political decision, and as events have shown, it was the wrong one.
I fully support the military actions. I rejected the political decision to leave Fallujah intact as a oasis for al Sadr, Al Zarkauwi (spelling). It was ill advised at best, plain old fashioned idiocy at worst in my opinion.
The fact that the streets of Fallujah are patrolled by Talibaneque four man teams caning women who dress "inappropriately" the fact that miltia types are rampaging in shops carrying anything they find "offensive" demonstrates the attempted Political Policy was wrong.
The world is better off without the al Sadr's, Saddam's, Mullah Omar's of the world.
Good point, Zaqawri maybe?
Excuse me....I haven't seen anything indicating that the Shite leadership wants him to "disappear". I've been a little busy and haven't seen much news lately. I just remember the last time we tried to move in on him a bunch of Shite's seemed to get really mad.
But your witty sarcasm has enlightend me.
Violence is the only way to deal with these #@%&%&#^*%s
Read my post #86 where I addressed exactly this.
I know a teeny bit about Iraq.
Just a weensy bit, though.
You must have been on vacation the past few months. He pulled a Kerry a while back : he was against the Iraqi government before he was with it before he was against it.
Troops detain Sunni scholar
Associated PressBAGHDAD, Iraq U.S. troops detained a prominent member of an influential Sunni Muslim group believed to have links to insurgents on Monday, officials of the group said.
Muthanna Harith al-Dhari, information director for The Association of Muslim Scholars, was detained along with two of his guards, said Hassan Jumaa, an official in the groups information office.
Al-Dhari was returning home when he was detained by U.S. troops just after midnight.
Eight Humvees were waiting for him, Jumaa said, adding that troops searched al-Dharis vehicle and another car escorting him for over two hours before taking him and away.
It was not clear why al-Dhari was detained and the U.S. military had no immediate comment.
A statement from radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadrs office condemned al-Dharis arrest and threatened decisive measures if he was not released.
In an interview with the Arab satellite network Al-Jazeera, one of the men accompanying al-Dhari when he was arrested said U.S. forces dealt with them aggressively.
Ammar Abdul Kareem said U.S. troops forced them to get out of the car, searched them, then said they detected traces of explosive materials on the hands of al-Dhari and two other companions.
The association was founded last year to promote the interests of Iraqs Sunni minority. Al-Dhari is the son of the groups secretary-general, Sheik Harith al-Dhari.
Yeeeee Haaaaa!!!!!
