Here's the linK

St. Paul Mayor Kelly Supports Bush for Re-election

St. Paul Mayor Randy Kelly broke Democratic Party ranks on Sunday to announce his support for President Bush's re-election.

"George Bush and I do not agree on a lot of issues," Kelly said in a statement. "But in turbulent times, what the American people need more than anything is continuity of government, even with some imperfect policies."

Kelly, who said he's remaining a Democrat, said the economy is going in the right direction. "There's no reason to believe a change of course will produce better or quicker results," he said.

And the mayor said the United States will bring the troops home from Iraq a lot sooner if "we don't try to bring in a whole new leadership team to run the show. We must stay the course."

Governor Tim Pawlenty, who co-chairs the Bush-Cheney campaign in Minnesota, praised Kelly. "His bold decision is courageous and a welcome move toward working across party lines," Pawlenty said in a statement.

U.S. Senator Norm Coleman, the Bush-Cheney campaign's other co-chair in Minnesota, called Kelly's announcement "bipartisanship at its finest."

"Mayor Kelly recognizes that jobs are being created and that tax cuts have stimulated that job growth. He has done the same for St. Paul," said Coleman, Kelly's predecessor as mayor of Minnesota's capital city.

But the St. Paul DFL Party said Kelly "has traded the values of St. Paul for the agenda of the Republican Party's far right."

"Rather than advocating the needs of St. Paul, Mayor Kelly's decision to not support John Kerry's strategy for building our cities does the voters of St. Paul a disservice," the party said.

Kelly, who was elected mayor in 2001, is up for re-election next year.

"Kerry = Exxon Valdese
Adrift, spewing toxins, and listing hard to the left."

It appears that the SS al Queery just hit another rocky shoal on its port side and is listing even more to the port side.

"More evidence that the Democratic party is nearing an historical, defining split, as has occurred every 30 years or so. Today, you have the Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy liberals and the Zell Miller, Randy Kelly, etc. moderates. The moderates have always pulled ahead in the past, leaving the liberals in the dust."

"If this was Atari, the screen would be nearing "game over" for the liberals."

This is why they are acting like wounded and dangerous predators at the national level to the jerks who live on our streets. They are attacking GW 24/7 and any of us, the known enemies, the out in the open brokend glass Republicans.

I think that we have a real opportunity with that small percent of democrats who are not the fanatics to get them to vote for our side or just stay home for the election. We saw these people stay home out here in California when we outed Davis. They couldn't bring themselves to vote for Arnold, nor would they vote for Davis, so they stayed home. Many admitted before the election, they couldn't stand Davis, and that they just stayed home and didn't vote.

These same people don't like Kerry. Many who are our age either served in Nam or had siblings or good friends who did. They know what Kerry did to their family members in Nam or who had served in Nam after Kerry returned. They despise Kerry for what he did after he returned and now bragging about his Nam service.

If 2 to 5% of these democrats either stay home on election day or vote for GW, Kerry's ship will be sunk.

Yeah...he is a native New Yorker who was a campus radical at Hoffstra, then studied law at the University of Iowa. He was a lawyer in the Attorney General's office in Minnesota when he started to see the damage liberalism was doing. He ran for mayor of St. Paul and actually reduced the size of its leviathan city government, ran for governor as a Republican, coming in second to Jessie Ventura, but whipping his DFL competitor, Skip Humphrey by an overwhelming vote. He ran against Wellstone and was ahead in the polls (Wellstone had promised he would serve only two terms, then ran a third time) when Wellstone was killed in an airplane crash. The DFL put former ex-US veep Fritz Mondale in Wellstone's campaign (remember the Wellstone Funeral?) and the whole revolting house of cards fell in shortly afterward with Coleman's election. I voted for Jessie when Norm ran for governor because I wasn't sure of his "conversion" and I liked what Jessie was saying about chopping back the state's gold-plated bureaucracy. Once Jessie got into the Gov's mansion he reversed his attitude and starting talking about light rail and new office buildings for state employees. These projects would be his legacy, he thought. Norm went back to running St. Paul and brought back a hockey franchise to the city which won him the blue collar vote. Norm has become a trustworthy conservative and I wouldn't mind seeing him in national office.

Pawlenty's base is located in the ring suburbs of the Twin Cities. Since the Twin Cities contains 70-80 percent of the state's population, southern and western Minnesota, while largely Republican, aren't enough to win elections.

You are correct. I live in Minneapolis.

The last Republican to represent any part of Mpls in the Legislature was Bill Dean and he retired in '82. The last GOP member of the city council retired in '85.

GOP voters are most numerous in Wards 11 and 13 in the south and southwest corner of the city. Ward 13 has had an Independent council member since '93 who usually votes fiscal conservative.

But other than that, Minneapolis is full-on liberal and the Green Part IS the opposition party.

It's tragic too because most of the Green Party office-holders couldn't tell their head from their butt without two hands and a search party.

We live in Prior Lake when the new Ferry Bridge went in. PL moved from a 4th or 5th tier suburb to being a 2nd tier city. 494 and 100 was 5 minutes from my house instead of 30-40 minutes thru Burnsville and up 35 W.

State Rep. Phyllis Kahn, a 32-year veteran from Minneapolis and a key figure in the DFL House caucus, was stopped by New Hope police earlier this week after a citizen complained that she was removing a Republican House member's campaign literature from doorsteps and replacing it with a DFL opponent's material.

The case has been referred to the Anoka County attorney's office for possible charges, officials said.

I have one of MJY1288's stickers* the back of my of my large and dirty OJ Simpson Bronco on the tailgate at eye level. Last week I caught one of the great unwashed trying to pull the sticker off. The second collision hurt him as he bounced off the sticker and my tailgate.

His crying response, "Bush is the traitor!" Earned him another second collision. Then, he slithered away.

While scurrying and slithering away, he turned around to say something, and I said, "If you want to become a bumper sticker open your JFK mouth again." He slithered away.

Wow. That's some serious stuff.

Dems think everyone's property is theirs to touch. Which is why they always have their grubby little hands out for our money.

Just read a story last nite about libs defacing stop signs here in the Twin Cities. (writing 'Bush' below stop) they are controlling commies.

A good working definition of the Green Party.

For the past two presidential elections and the congressional elections and even local elections, I have had my yard signs knocked down, spray painted and stolen. My bumper/Bronco stickers have been ripped off or spray painted. Also, we have zero stickers on my wife's car. These bozos are real brazen when women have conservative stickers.

So I have developed zero tolerance for any of this bs. I'm not an idiot, I will not tangle with La Raza thugs, but most of these thugs are old hippie types or young punks. They are all talk and then run when caught and challenged.

But the St. Paul DFL Party said Kelly "has traded the values of St. Paul for the agenda of the Republican Party's far right."

As an orthodox Lutheran and a cultural/socal conservative, I've had it up to HERE with "St. Paul values"!!!! The St. Paul area synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) is one of the most culturally and theologically liberal synods in our church. It includes a notorious "ordained" lesbian named Anita Hill, and quite a few other pastors and congregations that back the gay and feminazi agenda TO THE MAX!!!! Now their neighbors in Minneapolis have "ordained" another gay "pastor", Jay Wiesner. None of these "ordinations" are authorized by our church, but the liberals get away with them, as well as "blessing" gay "unions", etc. This is all designed to destroy the noble tradition of Christian orthodoxy in the Lutheran church, and replace it with postmodern nonsense and gaysbian perversion!!!!

What is going on in Lutheranism in the Twin Cities (where Lutheranism has been especially strong, in terms of numbers) cannot occur in a vaccuum. "St. Paul values", even among non-Lutherans, must be similarly hyper-liberal.

The St. Paul Democratic mayor who now supports Bush did not mention the issue of "values". (However, the party spokesperson did.) However, I am gratified that he decided to go against the wacko hyper-liberals in his city and region.
