What was going on Alberta?
They seemed to be pulling vehicles over -- but not at random. From the looks of it, I'd say they were looking for a very specific type of vehicle and/or a person who fit a specific description. A cop pulled up alongside me and took a look at me, but didn't pull me over -- even though I had just made an illegal turn.
Nationally we're at yellow except for the cities mentioned today by Ridge which are at orange.
I always thought NYC has been at orange since 9-11. So, if NYC goes up one notch, shouldn't at least be at orange+.

That is a valid theory based on how long the jihadists have been at it, but, in practice, I don't think you'll find anyone involved in 9/11 was here 10 years.
Sharply reducing the U.S. moslem population would sharply reduce the terrorist theat here. Many of the 9/11 hijackers were on invalid, fraudulent, and/or expired visas. Tighter border security would have prevented 9/11. It is a scandal of the first magnitude that our borders are so shoddily protected.
They take OUR rights to enable this sloppiness to continue. I hope it is the lives of our legislators that are lost when a nuke or anthrax smuggled across from Mexico is used. Then maybe we'll get a legislature that will pay attention to border security.
Those guys are a poor substitute for "The Untouchables" or the "Reservoir Dogs."

Can someone explain to me why we need a revamped system per the 9/11 commission? Seems to me that what we have in place is efficient.

We purchased the bay window from Habitat for Humanity for $180.00. Only thing was missing was the crank handles! I think the double glazed window lost it's special seal and moisture built up inside. We removed it and took it down to class shop. It cost $35 to repair! While it was in the shop, the window was sealed with packing material sandwiched with shrink wrap and duct tape. Kept out the cold! Maybe duct tape will save the day when we lose our roof to a tornado.
How about we just GIVE them California?

I still believe that the terrorists won't do anything till after the election. If they can get enough people to forget 9/11 and how Dubya took charge and get them voting for Kerry, then they will figure they are home clear to bomb a little here, bomb a little there.
I always wonder if the truth will ever come out on how our safety and security were just thrown away for votes.
A whole forest would have to be cut down to provide enough paper to detail all the shenanigans and treason committed during the Clinton administration.
