Now I know why the Coast Guard was buzzing around the harbor all morning(NYPD also). Considering that we were just about the only ones out there until about 9:00AM, I'm surprised we weren't at least checked out, if not boarded. I guess the regulars were on patrol, they know who we are in the places we fished.
(A decent pull of Fluke and a couple of small Bluefish :)
Time to hit the shower(for the smell not the ORANGE ALERT!!! ;-)

Look for a distraction in NYC while the bigger event is being put into place.IMHO there will be a series of small events while the big one is being set up.

We've had this "survival kit" around since I was a kid. Us old folks remember the air raid drills and the old phrase "Put your head between your legs and kiss your *** goodby. And it was the big bomb we were worried about.
We took it so lightly and I thank our parents and the media for not deluging us with old war stories. (They came in good time). How their hearts must have hurt when they heard the Drill Siren blairing from the school, 7 houses away.

Most European airport security is tighter than Terayza's ass.Yes, but our planes are probably safer because many European airlines still have a policy of letting terrorists gain control over their planes. A British Airways spokesperson said after 9/11 that they wouldn't throw away the life of a stewardess with a knife at her throat, whereas Americans would think jumping the terrorists would give everybody the best chance to make it.

They're MO has always been "false info" to watch the security changes and then a real hit, a couple of weeks later. The embassies were a perfect example. So was the Anthrax scenario. It always costs billions to up our security.

Your link mentions specific targets;
Link
AP: Specifically, the government named these buildings as potential targets: The Citicorp building and the New York Stock Exchange (news - web sites) in New York City.
The International Monetary Fund (news - web sites) and the World Bank (news - web sites) buildings in Washington.
The Prudential building in Newark.
"The preferred means of attack would be car or truck bombs," Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge said in a briefing with journalists. That would be a primary means of attack."

Look for a distraction in NYC while the bigger event is being put into place.Ridge is right to pass on the threats. However, in all liklihood Al Qaeda was not pleased over losing Afghanistan and Iraq to pro-American governments, and isn't looking for more of the same. Their goal is to get us out of the Middle East, not get us in deeper.
Madrid, by contrast with 9/11, was an Al Quaeda success. Let's hope Greek security is up to this month's challenge.
To: Pippin
Baltimore ? I heard NYC, and D.C. But Baltimore is next door to D.C., isn't it ? It is scary, huh ? I dunno, Pippin. If I was as close to the GOP Convention as that, I'd be tempted to go.
My thought is that security will be extra tight, and it probably will be the safest place in New York the days of the Convention.
Just my 2 cents, and worth every penny! :^D
