KUWAIT CITY, July 30 (Xinhua)-- A man said to be Jordanian militant Abu Musab Zarqawi, whose Tawhid and Jihad group has claimed responsibility for numerous attacks in Iraq, was captured during a joint operation by coalition forces and Iraqi police, a Kuwaiti newspaper reported Friday.
The Politics newspaper quoted a senior Iraqi police official as saying that the US and Iraqi investigators are trying to identify the captive, who was seized at the border of Iraq and Syria, and has sent his DNA sample for testing. Zarqawi, the No. 3 person of the al Qaida terrorist network, is the most wanted suspect in Iraq and has a US bounty of 25 million US dollars on his head.
The captive said his group operates mainly in west Iraq and a small faction of the group scatters around Baghdad and southern Iraq. He also revealed the hideouts of some members and ways of their communications. Zarqawi's group has claimed responsibility for a number of bloody attacks and beheadings of foreigners, including US businessman Nicholas Berg, South Korean translator Kim Sun-il and Bulgarian truck driver Georgi Lazov.
The captive, garbed in a white shirt and jeans, gave no resistance when he realized his hideout was besieged, according to Iraqi police. A week ago, Kuwaiti media reported that coalition forces and Iraqi police had rounded up Zarqawi and a handful of his followers in a certain Iraqi area bordering Syria.

Just got this from an Iraqi Blogger, Hammorabi. Not sure if it deserves a thread or not.
For what it's worth .......
Alzarqawi may be Arrested!
There are unconfirmed news published in the Irakana news site that the son of a bitch Al Zarqawi has been arrested in Hadietha close to the Syrian border after they arrested one of his closest aides 2 days ago. It also added that a blood sample has been taken to confirm the genetic ID of the named terrorist. According to the same news Zarqawi has admitted that he received one milliard dollar from Udy Saddam before the fall of the regime and confessed about his relation with Fidaiyi Saddam. He also confessed about the net works of his cells in Iraq. The news not yet confirmed so we have to follow what that site will come with or other sites.

Good point. If true, authorities may be using any intel captured or coerced from him to trap others in his cell(s). It may be weeks before official word breaks of his capture in order to take full advantage of the situation.

Here's another source - dunno if it's "real" or not..
Bah! As I posted to Mad Ivan on a thread recently entry level torturers start with Yoko Ono at a bare minimum.
"Im sure theres a #2 to take his place. It will be just one less murderous scum bag."
Exactly, one less...there is much more work to be done and I am all for it. I don't care how many of these creatures crawl out of caves and for how long, we should kill them where we find them.
"If keeping the rest of the world in the dark about his capture means they can do whatever they want to him with no reprisal, I say keep it a secret."
I agree. Put him in a straight jacket while he is in his cell and play the US national anthem 24 hours a day while having him face the US flag and a picture of W. This would be between wall to wall counseling sessions of course.
Thanks for letting me know, I'm really wondering if this is going to hold any water or not. (what an optimist;))
Interesting, Xinhuanet too now. If it's true, I'm not surprised.....seems like those in power in the Islamic Jihad have been the least likely to martyr themselves so far.....they save that for the rabble that doesn't think for themselves and therefore doesn't know any better.
I understand completely, and what you're saying does make sense, I just wanted to let folks around here know that it was being shown by another source, that's all. We shall see what we shall see.
