Friday July 30, 2004--For the third straight day, the Rasmussen Reports Presidential Tracking Poll shows Senator John Kerry with 48% of the vote and President George W. Bush with 45%. The Tracking Poll is updated daily by noon Eastern.
While the television audience for the Democratic National Convention was relatively small, 67% of voters said that they followed news stories about the event either somewhat or very closely. This figure includes 78% of Democrats, 61% of unaffiliated voters, and 60% of Republicans.
Among those who followed the news "very" closely, 51% were Democrats, 25% Republican, and 24% unaffiliated.
Over the course of the past week, President Bush's Job Approval ratings have declined among women but improved among men. Overall, there is no net change. Also, over the past week, the nation's economic confidence has declined. The number of people rating the economy as poor has increased to 30%.
Today, at 3:00 p.m. Eastern, we will release data showing whether voters believe it is more important to finish the mission in Iraq or bring the troops home as soon as possible. The data will also show which of those priorities John Kerry and George Bush believes is more important.
Today's results are based upon survey interviews conducted Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights. Only a small portion of the interviews were conducted following Kerry's speech. Monday's update will be the first based entirely upon interviews conducted following the speech.
Prior to last night's speech, most Democrats view their nominee as politically moderate. Republicans overwhelmingly consider the Senator politically liberal. We will check again next week to see if perceptions have shifted.
Following a review of our tracking data through July 15, the latest Rasmussen Reports Electoral College projection shows Kerry with a modest lead, 227-208. There are 103 Electoral Votes in the Toss-Up category
Is this the worst convention poll bounce?
The dems polled outnumbered reps polled by 18%, what gives?
My bad, I misread the info. The jury will disregard the statement already made!
Sorry about that. I did a title search with the word "Rasmussen." I have no idea why I didn't catch it.
Perhaps the percentage of Dems who responded or were in the samepl population exceeded the number of Repubs by that amount.
Anyway, they outnumber us, by what percentage nationally, I don't know.
What worries me is either Bush's lack of campaigning, or a deliberate attempt by the media to "freeze" him out.
Look at the "Manchurian Candidate" The entertainment media rewrote it and changed the entire thrust of the Manchurian candidate to coincide with a leftist stereotypic view of a Republican.
Sometimes I think the only reason Bush's head is being kept above water is by the Net and talk radio.
He's got to do better than this or Kerry will beat him.

How dare you bring in the politics of division! :^)
Conservatives are usually more quiet but show up at the polls in greater numbers,"Silent majority". I will agree Bush needs to pick up the pace but he really had to wait in order to analyze Kerry's speech and prevent Kerry from tagging his points. Kerry will get a puppy push but it will be short lived. I had actually misread the thread, my apologies.
Now that's a very good point, how can you discern how many dems were polled vs pubs??? I really don't know myself so I thought I should ask.
Here Kitty Kitty! Here Kitty kat!
Didn't the Consumer Confidence number just go up for July (highest in two years)??
How dare you bring in the politics of division! :^)
I'm sorry it will never happen again. We must all work together to make one happy family of Americans.(barf)
These are not mutually exclusive. In fact, a proper policy would combine the two ideas. I hope they did a better job of asking than they did in telling us about it.
The data will also show which of those priorities John Kerry and George Bush believes is more important.
Huh????
Push polling. Yay.
It doesn't shock me that this number has fallen this week as the hard core Dims have been drinking their Koolaid and believing what the Al Sharptons of the world tell them hook, line and sinker.
In the altenate universe some of these Dims live in the economy is poor. Funny that hte numbers are the same as Clinton.
