Zogby: ZERO Bounce for Kerry
NewsMax ^ | 7-30-04

Posted on 07/30/2004 6:36:51 AM PDT by jmstein7

A Zogby poll taken while the four-day Democratic Convention was underway shows that the Kerry Edwards ticket has failed to add even a single percentage point to its support.

The poll of 1,001 likely voters conducted Monday through Thursday found that 48 percent support the Kerry Edwards ticket - the exact same number that backed the Massachusetts Democrat in a July 6-7 survey.

The only good news for the presidential hopeful came in the category of undecideds, which had grown to eight points in the latest survey, up from five points in the earlier sample. The latest Zogby numbers show Kerry Edwards leading Bush Cheney 48 to 43 percent. Support for Bush Cheney in the previous sample was 46 percent.

Actually, I think it's too early for the bounce. We will probably see it next week.

HA! Dem operatives after the speech last night claimed they got a sneak peak at the Zogby poll, showing a 5-10 point bounce.

DEAD CAT BOUNCE!

If more people knew he served in 'Nam - it could turn things around for him.

The whole thing was a joke. The ketchup boy will be lucky if he doesn't lose ground.

Yeah, we need post-acceptance-speech numbers to assess any bounce.

I am surprised John Kerry did not go into negative territory. I can just see all the Democrats at the Convention listening to Kerry for 55 minutes, looking at their watches, and thinking.....GOD SAVE US! What have we done! To think that we might have to listen to another 55 minute speech of John Kerry in a presidential address, or state of the union. HELP , HELP, SAVE US FROM THE KING OF BOREDOM.

This title is misleading. Zogby didn't report that Kerry got zero bounce. This is NewsMax spin and shouldn't be in Breaking.

If more people knew he served in 'Nam - it could turn things around for him.

If more people knew that Benedict Arnold served in the Revolutionary War, it might change people's negative opinion of him.

Thats what I think. If there is going to be any bounce at all it will be next week. It took more than a week for Kerry to get the "mini-me" bounce when he picked Edwards for his VP.

It's a bit early to tell but i think a bounce of 2% to 5% is about all he'll get.

It's a good thing the republican convention is later, the presidents speeches tend to lead to much larger bounces in the polls.

No DNC Convention bounce? Kerry is screwed! Hay, have you donated to your favorite candidate's campaign lately? Send in a few bucks, liberty is not free. Go to www.GOP.com/Membership2004 and help President Bush defeat Kerry.

Folks, DON'T BELIEVE this for a minute!

You cannot access any bounce until all the poll data is taken AFTER the final speech. In the opinion of many objective Freepers, it was probably "good enough" to sway many "swing" voters (who by definition are pretty dumb and/or gullible). Mark my words, there WILL be a significant bounc! I predict a 7 point bounce, who knows, maybe 10. I don't think it will last however, especially once the GOP convention finishes. However, there probably WILL be at least SOME measurable bounce. Thats my call, and I am not some gloomy pessimist.

This is stunning news if it holds. Clinton had something like an 18 point bounce in 1992..

This poll also shows Kerry/Edwards leading by two points in the south. As Dales remarked on his blog, that's all you need to know about this one.

Isn't Zogby a democratic shill? I think he predicted a Gore win in 2000 so I'm not sure he is credible. Plus, he's an arab so its likely his sympathies lie with Kerry, and he's trying his best to sabotage the Bush campaign. I wouldn't believe a word he says.
