HAS SANDY BERGER BEEN CLEARED?

Posted on 07/30/2004 3:19:48 AM PDT by itsinthebag

I just heard on the radio news that Sandy Berger has been cleared of any wrongdoing. Apparently the National Archives is saying that all documents have been accounted for. Has anyone else heard this? And no, this should not be posted under humor! I'm serious, I really did hear this on the morning news just now. WMAL 6:30 here in Washington, D.C., the Fred Gandy Show.

Original notes were written by hand on the sides.

Who in Justice said this? Those in Justice who laughed at the 911 Atrocities?
or those who refused to allow American Jews to translate Arabic after the 911 Atrocities?

Just read in the WSJ: He's been cleared, and the Archives now says that he took no original documents. Very strange in view of the fact that he admitted he had.

As I pointed out earlier, taking copies has its own set of problems. Any fraudster knows that if you alter the original, you better make sure you know where all of the copies are.

Officials looking into the removal of classified documents from the National Archives by former Clinton National Security Adviser Samuel Berger say no original materials are missing and nothing Mr. Berger reviewed was withheld from the commission investigating the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

I posted a thread on Thursday that illustrates how classified is supposed to be handled. The title of the thread is Details of Classified Document Handling Procedures.

bout "honest mistakes" vs premeditation. If you have already read this, please ignore.

The thread can be found here.

I read that even the NA "orginals" are copies - the actual originals are in the Clinton library (where apparently security was better?). However, even a copy of a classified document is classified.

He wasn't "cleared" of anything; this is also only the 9/11 commission folks, and not the DOJ. Furthermore, so far he hasn't even been charged, so he couldn't have been "cleared," and in any case, one of the reports said that a grand jury will probably be convened before too long to consider this matter.

This whole story was pure spin.

If Berger walks, there are many many people who WILL NOT VOTE FOR President Bush. They will not vote at all out of discouragement.

Bingo. To walk away form this sends the signal its a good-old-boy network where the Pubbies forgive (and the Rats just attack regardless). I recall a certain Cap Weinberger (Hey another Berger) indicted on the eve of an election, later to be cleared.

That's how the rats play. The Pubs have this clown dead to rights. If they forget about this I will forget which direction my polling place is.

The House? It is run by Democrats like the Senate.

And the Justice Department is run by Clinton holdovers. Our motto is "The buck stops somewhere else!".

If that is true, why did the National Archives call the Clinton Library in Little Rock seeking copies of what was missing? Was their copy machine broke down, or was there nothing to copy?

"The problem for Berger is that the originals are also in the material waiting for the construction of the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock. That project is being managed by the National Archives. When officials of the National Archives saw Berger stuffing documents in his pants, they checked to see what was missing. They called Little Rock and got the memos replaced, only this time they had invisible markings."

I find that hard to believe, don't you? Original Classified Documents at HIS library? We need an explaination on how this could be.

Thanks for the ping. I just read the article in the WSJ, it's interesting it says that he was given photocopies and it is the photocopies that may be missing. I would also point out that he has been cleared in respect to the September 11 commission investigation. There have been reports that the were other documents involved.

I haven't read all of the articles in question yet (I will do so later) but if true, what an ingenious way to alter the original records.

Kerry hired Sandy Berger as his 'expert'; he hired Joe Wilson. If you dont like what Sadny Berge did, defeat Kerry is the *best* and only answer. Every Clinton crony has teflon; forget jail time or legal action ... BUT KEEPING THEM OUT OF POWER IS THE ONLY AND BEST RESPONSE WE HAVE.

If idiots are going to let the man who hired Sandy Berger become President because Sandy wasnt rapped hard enough for his pilfering, well the country's lost anyway. That kind of illogical behavior makes no sense at all.

Excuse "nothing was missing" does *not* clear Berger of anything... that wasnt what was at issue, it was his *attempt* to take things on multiple occasions.

If they were returned, that is one thing, but that is like saying a 'bank robber is cleared' because the money was recovered.

What actually transpired here?
Did Berger take documents or not?

"This whole story was pure spin."

Thanks! It sounded fishy. Actually the 911 commish told us last week that 'nothing was with-held from them' so this is not even 'new' news.

If the most recent reports are to be believed, Berger took photocopies of classified documents which were housed at the National Archives. When the National Archives "discovered" that the photocopies were missing, it contacted Clinton's Presidential Library, which was able to "replace" all of the missing documents.

Why isn't anyone in the media pointing out the enormous opportunity for fraud here?
