Kerry's aides complain: Sharon prefers Bush

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon treats US President George W. Bush warmly, while his attitude toward Democratic candidate Senator John Kerry can be described as "cold", officials from Kerry's headquarters said.
Sharon's attitude toward the two may have an effect on the vote of US Jews in the coming November elections, officials told Army Radio Thursday morning.
Kerrry's people said that one example illustrating Sharon's "preference" is his avoiding meeting Kerry in the past. They added that vice premier Ehud Olmert, Sharon's right-hand man, had been quoted recently as saying, "Jews in America prefer Bush to Kerry."
An official at the Prime Minister's Office denied the allegations, saying that Kerry is welcome in Israel at any time and Sharon has not yet met him due to "technical reasons."
The Democratic Party on Wednesday nominated Kerry as their candidate in the presidential election scheduled for November 2.
Kerry won the primaries held earlier this year by a wide margin. The endorsement by the 4,500 delegates assembled in Boston for the party's convention was a mere formality.

Rules AND consistency are only required if you are a Republican. Neither is required of a Democrat or his staff.

Kerry has to be real careful. If he comes out too strong for Israel, he will alienate the Muslim vote, which could be critical for him in Michigan. Farrakhan may also be miffed. His brother Cam, who converted to Judaism in the 1980s, was on C-SPAN this morning. Cam visited Israel recently trying to win support or at least asking Israeli leaders to remain neutral.

Well, when Kerry names James Baker and Jimmy Carter as exponents of his Middle East policy (though now he's flip-flopped and has reconsidered his choice), what does he expect the Israelis do do?

Democratic Party sources said they do not appreciate the fact that American Jews visiting Israel hear from the prime minister and his aides overstated praise for Bush, Haaretz reported. I don't recall hearing from the Democrat Party when Carville and Clintoon were busy pushing Barak over Bibi.
The sources also noted that Kerry's brother Cameron, a convert to Judaism of over twenty years, recently visited Israel and met with Sharon, but photographers were banned from recording the meeting.
And who is Cameron voting for? ;)

hints to the Jews
Don't like the sound of that.
A senior advisor to Kerry, Susan Rice, said if Kerry is elected he will reinvigorate the Middle East peace process.
Yeah, he'll invigorate it all right.
Meanwhile, a panel at the Democratic National Convention was told that American Jews remain faithful and reliable supporters of the Democratic Party and seem poised to overwhelmingly back John Kerry in the Nov. 2 presidential election, Reuters reported. President Bush won only 19 percent of the Jewish vote in the 2000 elections.
Isn't that special. They think they're safely on the reservation. We'll see.

LOL This is funny. Kerry 'bragged' about 'foreign leaders' who had called him and extended their support. Now, Kerry's office is whining because Sharon likes Bush better.
Kerry is such an idiot.

I dont think this has anything at all to do with Jews or the support of Israel. Quite the opposite actually. I believe this to be an attempt to really rawl up the FAR left who hates Israel anyway. If Sharon hates him even better. the darling of the left. there are however many self hating Jews in this country who hate Sharon anyway and this will secure their vote.

the jews have been taken for granted for decades by the dems.
the dems think they have the jews in their pockets, just like the blacks.

Maybe the dems are trying to peel off the buchanan supporters... they supposedly don't like the jews.
Some catholic groups are reported to not be very pro israel either.... perhaps pseudo catholic John Kerry is after the buchanan catholics who opposed the war and oppose Israel too?

So?
President George HW Bush used economic pressure to undermine Likud PM Shamir's government and supported Rabin. President Clinton supported the Labor PM Perez over his the Likud, which was then led by Benjamin Netanyahu. Clinton later sent Greenberg and other campaigners to help Barak's Labor party unseat PM Netanyahu.

Didn't Carville and other Clintonites go to Israel and work for the election of a liberal PM candidate? Did Lurch whine about that?
