Seems to me that Edwards tried to put too much into the speech.

"gotta start with two Americas .. need to throw in lots of Kerry stuff. Got some take-off lines from Cheney's speech in 2000 ... I'll throw in some stuff from the laundry list here & try to get a quick chant going there. I'll smile here, there, & there ..."

What he ended up with was a piece of $#@$ for a speech even worthy of this magnitude.
