The demonrats seem to not trust free speech,eh!
No Freepers?
I wonder why no freepers? Is it because Kerry was seen flipping a finger by our freepers and he had them banded?
Freepers largely AWOL, except for a few posters, like me. The anti-Dem speakers and protesters are mostly anti-abortion groups (big around Boston for obvious reasons) and those resisting the speech camp (the anti-socialist/anti-communist wing, like fans of David Horowitz, M. Savage, and the new entrants at New Republican Archive). What has been more BIZARRE is that the GOP has next to ZERO presence. Not even local YAFers recruited to hold signs. There must be some kind of stand-off agreement in secret. During prior presidential election cycles, you could always find local GOP supporters rallying to hold signs and the like at big Dem events. NOT HERE> Strange...
CLintonistas no. Gore rises to defense, sort of. Kerry is AWOL on the issue. The difficulty here is that the pen was the creation not of the Dems, but of the Justice Department (run locally by a former crony of Weld and still staffed with leading cadres of Reno). The dirty secret of the Bush Administration is that in the Justice Department it is still the Reno-Ashcroft agency (more Reno cadres than Ashcroft hires). When Clinton came to power in 1993 he fired nearly every single staffer in the DAs offices, and put in his own people. Bush came to town with a "bipartisan" government, kow-towing initially to Daschle (remember that?) and NOT purging Justice, Education, Agriculture, and so on of the cadres installed over 8 years of Clintonista rule. It was also Ashcroft that went after a protester in South Carolina in 2003 for holding a sign outside a designated protest zone. This Communist/socialist concept, which started on the campuses, and skipped over into the Reno-led Justice Department in the mid-1990s (in time to be tried for the 1996 conventions), is becoming institutionalized simply because there is not enough outcry against the law enforcement version of it. The campus version of speech codes and zones is already ON THE RUN, courtesy of folks like Horowitz and www.thefire.org. Check it out.
I would have expected a little more "street theater". Is Faneuil Hall off-limits? If I were in Boston, that's where I'd be headed. Not "The Pen".
John Kerry is staying in the hotel next to where I work in Philly. Maybe I should call room service and send up a platter of waffles.
Come to think of it the economic impact is close to what a terror attack might have cost the city.

Did you see the photo yesterday with only one customer eating lobsters and a very large outdoor restaurant area?
MR. KERRY TEAR DOWN THIS WALL
the extent of the pen really bothers me. Concertina wire? Yest the socialists and communists are free to roam? I understand wanting to keep the groups seperate, but yikes. I mean, c'mon. Barbed wire and guard dogs?
I'm sure that my ancestors who were alive before, during and after the Revolutionary War are spinning in their graves. Of course, the Kennedy Klan of Thugs probably started them spinning.
"MR. KERRY TEAR DOWN THIS WALL!"
That is great!
Remember Seattle? Same caliber of people.
