I'm not a PSU fan, but I like Joe Pa.

I am a Penn State alumn and I LOVE Joe Pa.

I didn't know he was a Republican until Bush 41 came to our campus in 92. It just cemented the adoration and respect I have for Paterno.

He's a class act in everything he does. Even his politics.

I tried looking for a download of the early July Bush rally in York, PA where Joe Paterno introduced the president but I couldn't find it anywhere. Went to C-SPAN and they have it to buy but I didn't want to pay $30.

I hang out with a good republican buddy who loves Bush but not PSU. I think I'll print out that picture and frame it.

Beats an endorsement by Whoopi Goldberg, doesn't it?

Jo Pa can do no wrong at PSU. A picture (that is) worth a thousand votes.

Hello!

Vice President Dick Cheney, left, is presented with a Penn State football game jersey signed by Penn State's Head football coach Joe Paterno, not pictured, and his son Republican congressional candidate Scott Paterno, right, after Cheney's speech, Monday, July 12, 2004, in Harrisburg, Pa.

Didn't know about this.

Like Penn State or not, Joe Paterno is a class act. Let me share a story with you all that happened five years ago.

I was the editor/writer/photographer for a Senior Newspaper in Southcentral PA. I called Joe's secretary to get an appointment to interview him. She said you will be getting a call.

One day I answered the company phone in my house and the person asked for me. After I acknowledged who I was he said, "This is Joe Paterno". My reply, thinking it was a joke was, "your shxting me". He gave me the appointment for an interview.

When I got to State College, Cheryl (the secretary) told me Joe just phoned in and would be 10 minutes late. He didn't have to do that.

After the interview he asked Jerry Sandusky (defense coordinator at the time) if he would show me around campus, the weight room and to meet with several players.

I never went into politics with Joe. Was not my job.

My point in posting this is just to say that I think the world of Joe. What a class act. Thankfully he is a Republican. Bill in Hershey

Joe Paterno was gracious enough to tape a congratulatory video for my father, who retired at age 80 after 59 years at General Electric. Dad sent him a thank you note. JoePa returned it with a note written on it in his own handwriting, that maybe he'd shoot for Dad's record. Fine man, and I'm glad he's helping Dubya.
