Special Announcement: Episode III Title July 24, 2004
Starwars.com is pleased to announce that Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith is the full title of the next Star Wars film, scheduled for release on May 19, 2005.
The Sith are masters of the dark side of the Force and the sworn enemies of the Jedi. They were all but exterminated by the Jedi a thousand years ago, but the evil order continued in secrecy. They operated quietly, behind the scenes, acting in pairs - a Master and an Apprentice - patiently biding their time before they could take over the galaxy. In Episode III, they'll finally exact their revenge on the Jedi.
The title was publicly revealed today in a special presentation to a packed audience of Star Wars fans at Comic-Con International in San Diego, California. "For some time now, the naming of a new Star Wars movie has taken on some special meaning among core fans, who love to take part in guessing games before a title is announced, and then engage in debate once it is," said Steve Sansweet, Director of Content Management and Head of Fan Relations for Lucasfilm. "Let the debates begin."
It's only a movie.
It's only a movie.
It's only a movie.
It's only a movie.
It's only a movie.
It's only a movie.
It's only a movie.
It's only a movie.
It is... and just so you know... I do have a life! But I love SW!
Whoohooo!! I've been waiting so long for this movie. Awesome graduation present from MIT. Cant wait to see how Anakin falls to the dark side and how he gets his Vader suit and what happens with Padme and the kids. Yeah, im nerd. I go to MIT and my name is right side jedi.
What do you think of Natalie Portman in the trilogy?
But, Dude! Endless discussions on what the name of the movie will be?
Whuzup wit dat?
This from a fan of over 20 years- an OT fan.
Doesn't matter what they call it- Lucas is writing it and as he has taken complete control the films have gotten worse. I'm ignoring the PT completely. Lucas is making commercials now as opposed to trying to create a modern myth that BECAME commercial.
Nothing like the creator of something wonderful being the one to tarnish it.
First, I'm a she... In the extended universe otherwise known as Luke's wife...
There's always endless discussion...
And after the last two which sucked wind, finally we are redeemed...
I hate purists...
Hate is so negative. You should try to find a positive way to express such emotions.
I'm not real fond of sheeple who incorporate banal brain-droppings from books into a cultural phenomenon. I don't hate them- I just pity them. Hive mind is a terrible thing.
Joseph Campbell Bump.
Finally, the long national nightmare is over!
A bit over the top don't you think...
It seemed to me that "Return of the Jedi" was much poorer. I guess I haven't seen them all but one which came out a few years ago was so awful I couldn't finish watching it.
"Attack of the Clones" was not bad although some of the PC ideas are a little hard to take.
Your post is choice. Where can I get permission to use the poster everywhere?
No kidding... now KOTOR, THAT would make a great movie .
Oddly, there actually is a meaning to this title. The first title of Return of the Jedi was Revenge of the Jedi. But it was pointed out by fans that revenge is an emotion more associated with the dark side, so they changed the title to Return of the Jedi. So, now we are at the third prequel, the counterpart to Return of the Jedi, and since the dark side would use revenge, they use the title Revenge of the Sith
some news about your people.
Boy, you got that right. Lucas should have hired the Bioware writers to come up with the Episode I and II stories instead of doing it himself. KOTOR was a terrific story--far superior to the prequel films, and probably far superior to Episode III.
Here's a good fan fiction assessment of the whole story (Spoiler?) posted at "Supershadow". Your guess is as good as mine as to what it's worth. On the whole it's a superior story to the last two flicks.
