Trying to keep track of the (snicker) Conservative Media Bias
No, but the timing of the leak will be covered.
By Sunday the squawk shows will be talking about the dnc convention and President Bush's military records. If they talk about berger, they will also mention the timing of the release and fairy mccowlips efforts to root out whoever outed their guy.
They'll question the timing of the leaks, and question "How could anyone do that to such a 'good and honest man'?"
On Fox News Sunday:
What can we expect from this year's Democratic National Convention? We'll get a preview from Govs. Bill Richardson, D-N.M., and Ed Rendell, D-Pa.
Plus, how has John Kerry made running for the White House a family affair? Chris Heinz, Sen. Kerrys stepson, weighs in.
On Meet the Press:
9/11 Commission's Chair Thomas Kean & Vice Chair Lee Hamilton, Dem. keynoter Barack Obama on the partys future & Tom Brokaw on conventions.
On Face the Nation:
Topic:
The 2004 Democratic National Convention
Guests:

I bet Berger comes up ONCE tomorrow morning, during the FNS panel segment IF Brit Hume is there. If not, I don't think we'll hear anything at all. Chris Wallace, Tim Russert, Bob Scheiffer, and Georgie Steponwhatever are far too giddy about the dem convention to worry about Berger.
I want to see if the Justice Department prosecutes.
Will the "New Tone" trump the rule of law in the name of political pandering?
Let's hope not.
You might get a snippet from the dog-eat-dog shows like McLaughlin and Washington Week.
Last night on Jim Lehrer, the despicable Mark Shields basically spun it as "show business" because of the "timing." He did admit they were trying to "reconstruct the Clinton record" but questioned "the timing." Then he went back and said it didn't effect the Commission because they "already had" the information. Huh? Zilcho about the criminality.
David Brooks - the pseudo-conservative - said it was "bad", in the same way you'd say "bad" to an errant puppydog, through admitting one shouldn't handle classified materials this way. Then on to the manner in which Berger is admired in Washington, but this will damage his chances in any possible Kerry administration (duh), and that he might have to lay low for a while. Nothing about the criminality involved.
And that's the way they play it inside the Beltway.
I suspect only Krauthammer will mention the statutory criminality of Berger's actions.
the timing is clearly at the hands of the democrats. they want the story, squelched as it is, will be swamped by the dem convention. so the timing is an issue, though surely a subordinate one. the dems are great at leaking something and then tryign to pin the link on the republicans by claiming that they wanted to do it to make the dems look bad and that their leaking [false story] is the real important story.
McLaughlin didn't touch the issue. Surprising with Buchanan and Blankley on the panel.
I hope they do. I wish they would. I'm sure they won't.
Here is my reasoning. Berger violated procedures. After an extensive investigation, FBI will conclude that he did not pass information along to any adversary (after all, he said he shredded them), so the simple removal of the information will not merit a prosecution.
Because of his agregious violation of security requirements, he may be denied UNESCORTED access to such records in the future. The harm he did was not by releasing classified information (which we have no evidence that he did), but by altering and removing relevant documents to the 9/11 investigation.
Once you reach a certain level, you are bulletproof. Remember Hazel O'Leary and all her legal problems? Now sentenced to be the President of Fisk University. Sad.
> "David Brooks - the pseudo-conservative...." <
Brooks joins the likes of David Gergen, William Safire, and the senate RINO club of Snow, Collins, and Chafee as what I call "Potemkin Republicans." The reference is to the Russian Potemkin villages, false fronts set up to give the appearance of progress and prosperity when viewed at a distance, but in reality completely without substance. Chuck Hegel is another, and both McCain and Hatch are flirting with it.
The story doesn't exist at CBS.
So I guess we have to wait for some more news to bump it to page 1.
Let's hope for a grand jury convening....even better would be an indictment.
I don't know about the Sunday shows but it got covered on Fox a couple or three times yesterday.I can't remember who but they even went so far as to point out that the documents he took were ones where he declined to attack Binladen 4 times.
The Dems would have to postpone the convention because there would be no media available to cover it.
ROFL
They would if it were the lovely Ms. Rice.
Oh I didn't know he stole secret documents... I just thought the Republicans had made up a story about Sandy getting into trouble then leaked it to the will media!
