Just heard over WWVA that Sen. John Kerry make his second campaign visit to Wheeling, W.Va., at a rally on the riverfront (Heritage Port, downtown Wheeling) in the "early evening" of July 31.
The last time Kerry was in town, he was greeted by a group of about 40 protesters, including pro-life folks, a large group from a local Catholic high school and a couple of freepers. An account of that warm welcome may be found here (thread, "After-freep report: John F. Kerry visits Wheeling, W.Va.").
WASHINGTON, July 21 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Kerry-Edwards campaign announced today that John Kerry and John Edwards' first trip as the official Democratic nominees will take them on an historic journey from coast-to-coast -- from the birthplace of the American revolution to the place where dreams are made. The "Believe in America" tour -- a continuous, cross-country trip reminiscent of Harry Truman's whistle stop tour across America -- will trace America's Westward expansion, highlighting the optimistic American spirit that is at the heart of the Kerry- Edwards plan to build a stronger America. Joined by their families and special guests all along the way, Kerry and Edwards will barnstorm the battlegrounds talking to families and communities about their plan for America's future. ...
The trip across America will span two weeks, cover over 3,500 miles and include a fleet of buses, trains and boats. It will kick-off with a send-off celebration in Boston on the Friday after the Democratic convention, barnstorming through 21 states in every region of the country: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
From the Great Lakes to the Grand Canyon, from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains, Kerry and Edwards will meet with workers and business owners who are creating and keeping jobs in America, hold front porch events, town halls and rallies in towns and communities across the country to highlight key parts of their plan for America's future, and visit historic sites and local favorites as they talk to Americans about how they will build a stronger, more secure America.
The "Believe in America" tour will kick-off with events in the first days in Miami, Orlando and Jacksonville, Fla.; Dearborn, Flint and Grand Rapids, Mich.; Newburgh, N.Y.; Zanesville and Bowling Green, Ohio; Scranton, Harrisburg and Greensburg, Pa.; Wheeling, W,V.; and Milwaukee, Wisc. More details on specific events and locations will be announced in the coming days. link
here we go again!
Hey mountaineer!! Have fun. You did great last time!
Thanks! I hope we have at least as good a turnout as the last time Lurch was in town.
LOL, I hadn't seen that pic before! Let's see, should I blow it up poster-sized, or just use the posters I made for the previous freep? Decisions, decisions ...
HERE IT IS BIGGER!
