They are all pathetic whores to their own power (such as it is). What makes me want to throw something is that you have Senators etc, making excuses for Sandy Burgler's absolute violation of the National Security Laws of this Gov. Then these a holes get up today and talk about tightening security. Yeah right we believe them.......

"Clarke's performance poisoned the public hearings, leading to weeks of a partisan slugfest. Lehman says Republican commissioners felt they had to fight back, adding to the partisan atmosphere. "What triggered it was Dick Clarke," says Lehman. "We couldn't sit back and let him get away with what he wanted to get away with." He adds, "We were hijacked by a combination of Viacom and the Kerry campaign in the handling of Clarke's testimony." Wager that CBS will avoid this at all costs in their evening report.

I just hope Fox gets the mainstream media rolling with this one... it worked for Berger, this is bigger if the Kerry campaign was involved.
Is it possible that Clarke was highjacked by the dems for this "jihad against Bush"? Was the goal to weaken Bush, and of course our entire country, to benefit Kerry?
Enquiring minds must know.

0H HELL THIS ISN'T NEW! The republicans are always TACKEN ABACK, it's called NO FREAKIN BALLS!!
It was a surprise "that he would come out against Bush that way." Republicans were taken aback: "It caught us flat-footed, but not the Democrats."
BS!
To: OldFriend
I would agree with you on the honorable part; however, Lehman has been in Washington long enough to know that doesn't hold true for the Dems.
Just look who was on that commission: Ben Veniste, Gorelick, Kerrey -- they don't have an honest or honorable bone in their body!

Tom Kean was the enabler in this fiasco. He thought that by sucking up to the Jersey Girls he would help his son in his run for Governor.
I have been a conservative forever but I will vote for McGreevy before I will EVER vote for Kean.

So, Clark's book is edited to exonerate Clinton, and the National Archives are "edited" by Sandy Berger to ....There you have this whole thing in a nutshell.
It all makes sense now....

Lehman says Republican commissioners felt they had to fight back, adding to the partisan atmosphere.Yeah, you guys really fought back hard. Besides calling the FDNY a bunch of "Boy Scouts", you didn't utter a peep when Bob Kerrey and Lee Hamilton just got up and walked out on the POTUS in the middle of his testimony, once they were certain that they would not be able to preen before the cameras. You sat there mute and told us to "mind our own business" when Atty. General Ashcroft pointed out the existence of the Gorelick wall, and continued to stay quiet while the press shredded Ashcroft for "politicizing the hearings"! I could rant and rave all night.
Next time you want to "fight for us", just do us all a favor and go stump for John Kerry.

Was it sworn testimony in both public and private questioning? If so, why weren't charges filed? of course I don't expect an answer

It wasn't Viacom parading Clarke and his book and holding it up as if it were the New Bible.
The Commissioners were doing that themselves. Now to cry, whine, and blame Viacom???? Nah, ain't buying that excuse.
If the Commission were so detailed after some 18 or so months of investigations before Clarke's testimony and Clarke's book, they should seen right through the lies in the book.
The Commissioners may have been hoodwinked/mugged, but it was with their own complicity in trying to play 'gotcha' toward the Bush Administration.
This whine is so transparent, it is pathetic.

Clarke's book was edit to help with this "jihad against Bush"......could Berger have seen a transcript of Clarke's book last summer...before he went into the National Archives.

Why would Kerry be hounding the commission unless he had information from Berger, that he wanted in the report or didn't want in the report? This could explain the theory of Berger sharing Confidential Archives with Kerry.

This whine is so transparent, it is pathetic. And these f**king RINOs are bending us over yet again. This girly man just gave the commision Rats all the cover they need to start sniping at President Bush without being accused of playing politics. "Hey, we thought we had a unanimous report, and then the Republicans started bitching!"
