Posted on 07/21/2004 12:22:40 AM PDT by Whataday

Just heard on CBS that no charges will be brought against Berger. The spin misters are saying they were only copies not the real documents..

It's time to make the calls to the elected ones!!!!!

Kerry campaign adviser Sandy Berger removed secret terrorism documents from a 9/11 Commission reading room on no fewer than five occasions, his lawyer Lanny Breuer admitted late Monday night.

Breuer told the Wall Street Journal that his client, who served previously as the Clinton administration's national security adviser, inadvertently removed several copies of an after-action report on the foiled 1999 Millennium bomb plot during two separate visits to the top secret facility.

Things like this clearly bring to light the need of a 3rd or 4th party in the USA. With a 2 party system things get covered up to easliy becasue everyone is in the good old boy network of CYA.

"Breuer told the Wall Street Journal that his client, who served previously as the Clinton administration's national security adviser, inadvertently removed several copies.."

Inadvertent would be having a sheet of paper get caught in your day planner. Stuffing your pants is not inadvertent. This guy is a criminal and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. They better go after who he was stealing for too.

You just heard on CBS?

Remember the old question - CBS?

Consider your source.

Besides, it's against the law to even write down what's contained in classified documents and take those notes with you, much less copies of the documents, or originals. And he apparently stole some originals, and likely shredded and/or burned them up.

Tells you how much the Media understands about Security and Classified Documents!

And they say there are the Guardians of our Democracy!

Just heard on CBS that the sky is falling.

I guess this is the reason Berger's lawyer
has been trying to plea bargain.

Welcome to FR.

Let us know when it is hard copy and not just what you heard. I hear a lot of junk on TV and the radio that is less that the truth. Even some posts here on FR.

I like some confirmation before charging off, especially with a new member to FR.

BTW, for those who may not know, you can check when someone has joined FR by moving your pointer over their name and the date will appear like a tool tip. You can also go to their home page, but the mouse pointer is quicker. It will also appear in the lower toolbar.

Correction- it might appear in the lower toolbar. It will appear with the mouse pointer on the name.

Reportedly the Justice Dept. has rejected a few offers by Berger's attorney to settle the case. So Justice appears to be taking this seriously and taking a harder line than the media is portraying at present. We have to be patient with this case. This will unwind slowly, and the Fat Lady hasn't even arrived at the opera yet.

Two and a half hours later and this newsworthy item has NOT made it to FoxNS. Methinks SeeBS suffers from wishfull thinking.

Stretch here again... the old geezer... Remember how Berger and Richardson covered up the Wen Ho Lee espionage scandal, and he too, walked with a slap on the hand... and was even praised for standing up for his rights....

It's also my understanding that not even notes made off classified documents can be removed.

That is true. (Fomer Top Secret clearance)
