NEW ORLEANS An explosive new study says some gay people can turn straight if they really want to.
That conclusion clashes with that of major mental health organizations, which say that sexual orientation is fixed and that so-called reparative therapy may actually be harmful.

Standard demonizing tactic of liberals.
Just checked on FR, and found your reply. Don't have time here, but will get to your question later.
Keep in mind I was raised in an academic, ultra leftist family and was the quintessential liberal/leftist myself, by default - since that's how I was raised. Another facet of growing up and living in an ultra leftist atmosphere was the pervasive scorn and derision; even hatred, towards those who held conservative views.
But, as I said, I made a complete change. Not that I joined one team for another. There are some issues where I don't "toe the line" as far as many posters here. For one, I am vegetarian, I practice yoga, and most here would not consider me a Christian, although I read the Bible regularly and consider Jesus divine and infallible. IOW, people - especially conservatives, who tend to think for themselves more than liberals, are often hard to pigeon hole, label, and stick on a spindle.
I hope you enjoy your stay on FR. Just don't get too preachy about leftist abominations, and you'll do fine. You have to get pretty bad to get banned.
Here's an axiom about learning the truth - if you are willing to serve the truth when you find it, you'll see it. If you only want to see that which you already agree with, so you don't need to change your life, you won't see any truth.
If we consider the truth more important than our previously held ideas, and are willing to change to fit the truth, we'll see it. If we want "reality" to fit itself to us, why, that's being a liberal/leftist! That's why so many of them remain in darkness.
Are you convinced of that enough that if you saw your sister or daughter about to marry an ex-gay, you could go along with her wedding plans?
How is anyone convinced to commit suicide?
Anyway, I think that sexuality is probably a continuum that runs from "Fully Straight" to "Fully Gay."

I've heard this opinion before. Stand back and think about it for a few minutes.
Who cares. This is great -- we need to spread this around to every swing voter/undecided we know.
I care because I'm interested in truth, thank you.
Thank you for the compliment. Now slither back over to DU where you belong.
