Sunday, July 18, 2004 12:50 a.m. EDT Newsweek Big: Media Bias Worth 15-Points for Kerry-Edwards
The American press has dived so deeply into the tank for Sen. John Kerry's presidential bid that they don't even bother concealing their pro-Democrat bias anymore.
"Lets talk a little media bias here," Newsweek's assistant managing editor Evan Thomas told PBS's "Inside Washington" last week, reports Sunday's New York Post.
"The media, I think, wants Kerry to win. And I think theyre going to portray Kerry and Edwards - Im talking about the establishment media, not Fox, but - theyre going to portray Kerry and Edwards as being young and dynamic and optimistic and all, theres going to be this glow about them that some, is going to be worth, collectively, the two of them, thats going to be worth maybe 15 points. Newsweek's July 19 issue, "certainly backs up Thomas contention," notes the Media Research Center, which first uncovered the amazing admission. "Over a smiling picture on the cover of Kerry and Edwards, Newsweek ever hopefully asks: 'The Sunshine Boys?'
I think it means Bush WOULD be up 15 points, if the media wouldn't pound on him 24/7 spreading disinformation and lies against him, promoting Kerry.
But unfortunately the media have major influence in how people think, and will ultimately vote, since that is where most people get their "information" or what they think is information.
I think you are right on target. The media paints a picture of America that is WAY more pro-homo, and way more anti-Judeo-Christian values than mainstream America really is. That is the essence of the liberal agenda....use the media to portray a society that is a little to the left of the mainstream. Then guilt people into embracing it by calling them closed minded if they dont...and using TV to show that "everybody's doing it. See...it's on TV" And then once people are convinced by that lie, they go one more step to the left. It's EXTREMELY sick.
Evan Thomas saying this is the beginning of the Clinton machine torpedo job on Kerry/Edwards.
LOL!!!
You've brought tears to my eyes from the bile in my throat.
I'd say easily more than 50 years.
That NY Times reporter who covered up Stalin's mass starvation 'program' happened in the 1930's IIRC - and then the guy got a Pulitzer for his lies and flowing praise of 'Uncle Joe'.
And I'm pretty sure that during the Spanish Civil War (1936-39) the Communists (US Lincoln Brigade) got all the favorable (glowing) press.
Then during WWII the tiny fact that the French resistance fighters were all commies wasn't exactly headlines here either.
It's also never mentioned that FDR's 1st Veep, Henry Wallace was an avowed communist.
And then we have the 1950's with the evils of 'McCarthyism'. Heck Joe was right, the KGB (and NKVD) was everywhere - from the State Dept to the White House staff.
There's probably many more examples, but I'd think it would be a safe guess to say 'the press' has been backing the leftists for a hundred years with their bias.
Many hours later I read this amazingly profound thought. Do you hear the sound of applause? You should be,it is that good. BRAVO!!!!
it's been the problem for years. no media "glow" would mean no clinton victory.
<< If Kerry loses the election, but finds his heart's one true love in Edwards, wouldn't it all be worth it in the end? >>
You'll laugh from the other side of your mouth when, after he and Kerry lose, Edwards sues the hospitals in which Kerry and TerEEble were born and the doctors and other medical professionals who attended their births, wins over the respective juries which then blame the congenital brain disorder each of the Kerrys suffers on faulty fauceps techniques -- and wins each of them a Hundred Million Mediscam Bucks. And a Hundred for himself.
Or at least you will then understand the attraction.
[Meanwhile, though, avert your eyes and those of your wife, your children and your dog whenever the two johns come within Reeeeeeeaaaaaaaaach of each other]
Why not invite Soros and Moore along?
How about Al-Franken, and Al-Gore?
A Predator could take them out in a single pass, except for Moore. You would need an MOAB just to penetrate the outer layer.
Is it me, or is Kerry's face starting to melt?
Your tag line is interesting.
What a great line of argument to shut down Leftists!
'YOU have a conflict of interest because YOU were born. YOU have no right or authority to speak for killing the unborn.'
It takes away the 'I'm a woman and this is my body' line of crap.
Excellent!
I've always wondered what a coincidence it is in this country that so many people are so evenly divided over political ideology. Now I think I realize that if things were let to progress naturally, conservatism would dominate due to people's inherently good nature. So liberalism is therefore artificially "propped up" by a vast media establishment in order to remain competitive. Sort of like affirmative action for political parties.
I don't understand why Fox or some syndicator wouldn't do a show every week exposing the foibles and bias of the press. I'd sign up for cable tomorrow just to watch it once.
Would any real man act like these two do in public? Would a heterosexual man act like this even in private??? Even in jest? Even if your focus group said it was worth it? Can you imagine Bush and Cheney acting like this? What are they (kerry/edwards) thinking?
Funny you should mention that...
<< Is it me, or is Kerry's face starting to melt? >>
It's a gonner!
[And F&%# Lindie England -- that's what I say!]
To be honest, I wouldn't F@#& Lynddie on a leash even if I were my dog.
