There is a large fire in the Santa Clarita Area of Los Angeles County....if you are in SoCal, that is the very large smoke clouds to the north.
"Just talked to fire officials. Winds are 20-25 miles per hour. They are lighting backfires at Littlerock Dam, but said it was going to be really tough to hold it there. Pray for the best. We have taken our horses and goats out. We are taking irreplaceables to another friends this afternoon. Then I will feel comfortable that if the evacuation call comes for us, we can leave without panic."
---
"the wind gage here is showing wind directly out of the south gusting between 17 and 24 miles per hour. there are bits of fire flaring up quite near the original fire site, but higher on the hills, as well as along the ridge line toward little rock. oops, 27 miles an hour.
our friends who were evacuated yesterday have been allowed back into their home. i had just started to answer email yesterday afternoon when the phone rang about the compulsory evacuations.
what we learned yesterday: if it looks like folks have to be evacuated today, and they need help, try and get to them BEFORE the compulsory order comes - they weren't even letting home owners go back up alyso canyon yesterday afternoon. the acton evacuation drill worked, though, and people's animals were evacuated even when they couldn't get home to do it themselves. its been a good community effort in pretty tough circumstances."
Good news, vegetation fire out on I-15.
Sounds like they're going for the vegetation fire first. Motor home's fully engulfed.
Ah, good. Thanks for doing some updates.. I've got little kids here and can't pay attention very well for the next little while.
That's reassuring that they're ready to evacuate.
We are former Saugus residents and appreciate your posts. Keeping our fingers crossed for you all.

Thank YOU. Without you and Karl, we wouldn't have any good news reports on this at all.
173 & Willow Creek.. FF fell and says he can't move
ARGH, that was a Firefighter who fell? Oh dear, more prayers.
I couldnt find any water readings on Little Rock Dam....I guess Palmdale water district owns it. It isnt listed on the state site, where you can read levels.

A bunch of fire units code 3 to Home Depot canceled, fire was put out by civilians. Engine 65 is delayed by traffic, wherever it's going.
The USFS freqs sometimes get bleedover from Mexico....dont ask me how, other than it gets into the repeaters.
Hopefully it will be easy to find the conference on TV. Thank you for the update! We're thinking about you and your husband.. and son.
