The USFS freqs sometimes get bleedover from Mexico....dont ask me how, other than it gets into the repeaters.
I was wondering that myself. Someone was screaming in Spanish. Who knows what the heck that's about.
They have a monster stick just south of the border. It must be picking up local handheld frequencies then.
It looks like Cable will take his Type 1 team there and work both the Crown and Foothill fires(Crown Complex). More resources will be coming, but getting them organized and effective is the problem. When radio communication becomes overloaded, then things are getting dangerous, and that seems to be the case now. Both Air Ops and the crews seem to be having problems. The Spanish is likely from the crews. Many of the contract crews are Hispanic, and use Spanish on the line or tactical radio freqs. Crews should have at least two, fluent English speakers, and there is an effort to get at least one English speaker per squad.
