Was just watching that wonderful old John Ford flick Drums Along the Mohawk (1939) and found a proper saying for our day and time. The versatile old character actor Arthur Shields plays the no-nonsense Reverend Rosenkrantz. He is giving a sermon and from the pulpit he says a local 16 year-old girl is going around with a soldier.
"He's a Massachusetts man, Oh Lord... And we know no good can come of that."

In defense of Bay State, I would mention John Adams, Samuel Adams, John Hancock, Emerson, Hawthorne, Thoreau, Alcott, John Quincy Adams, Henry Adams, Henry Cabot Lodge et al.

I would ask Massachusetts, "What have you done for us lately?"
