I think the focus should be:

1)Insure that the current supporters of President Bush get to the polls. Every vote will count. His ads need to remind people that their vote WILL matter.

2)Concentrate on the undecided voters. 45% on the left and 45% on the right aren't going to switch no matter what. The undecided voters don't really care about Vietnam, gay marriage, prison abuse or the 9-11 commission. They DO care about the price of gasoline, taxes and their personal safety. I know alot of these folks. They don't follow the news very closely except for sound bites and visuals. Show President Bush in his flight suit, hammer home how much HAS been done to ensure our safety at home. Simplify the information about how well the economy is doing by focusing on gasoline prices going down, housing, etc. These are things people can really relate to. Even use crime statistics if they show crime is down.

3) The biggest negative for President Bush is the war in Iraq. We need actual CITIZENS from Iraq to be interviewed thanking us for our help. That would make most people feel differently if they thought the people wanted us there. Good news stories with photos would help too.

4)Kerry's biggest negative is his flip flopping. Focus on the fact that he will say whatever it takes to get elected. Stay away from Vietnam and his fortune. Voters already know that politicians are rich. Edward's biggest negative is that he sues doctors. People like doctors and know that their insurance premiums are high b/c of lawsuits.

5)People need to hear the same message over and over and over again. Don't put too many messages out there. Just pick the best ones and hammer them home.

6)Bush/Cheney 2004

Try this new slogan on the campaign trail, spread it around and see how it goes over.

The democrat party left Ronald Reagan.
The democrat party left Zell Miller.
Has the democrat party left YOU?

Vote Republican this November!

Kerry backs much of pre-emption doctrine

WASHINGTON (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry said Friday he would be willing to launch a pre-emptive strike against terrorists if he had adequate intelligence of a threat.

Kerry offered some support for one of the most controversial aspects of President Bush's national security policy, even as he criticized the president for not reforming intelligence agencies after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

"Am I prepared as president to go get them before they get us if we locate them and have the sufficient intelligence? You bet I am," he said at a news conference at his Washington headquarters.

The Bush administration laid out the doctrine of pre-emption months before the Iraq war began in March 2003. It argued that the United States cannot rely on its vast arsenal to deter attacks and must be willing to strike first against potential threats. Critics of the policy say the Iraq war shows how the country could be driven to war by flawed intelligence.

Kerry said the intelligence needs to be improved so that the word of a U.S. president "is good enough for people across the world again."

But he added, "I will never allow any other country to veto what we need to do and I will never allow any other institution to veto what we need to do to protect our nation."

Bush-Cheney campaign spokesman Steve Schmidt complained that Kerry proposed cuts in intelligence spending while in the Senate. "John Kerry's attack is another example of his flailing efforts to defend a record that is out of the mainstream," Schmidt said.

Kerry spoke one week after the Senate Intelligence Committee sharply criticized prewar intelligence on whether Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction. The report did not address Bush's role, but Kerry said, "as commander in chief, the president of the United States must take responsibility for what happens on his or her watch."

The four-term Massachusetts senator said that nearly three years after the Sept. 11 attacks, "this president has not taken action sufficient to fix the intelligence problems that have plagued us."

Outlining his own proposals, Kerry repeated his call for creating a director of central intelligence who would oversee all facets of the nation's intelligence operations. He also proposed at least doubling spending for clandestine operations, improving interagency coordination and accelerating reforms at the FBI to improve its handling of domestic intelligence.

But Kerry stopped short of supporting a proposal by his running mate, Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina, to create a new domestic intelligence agency similar to the British MI5 agency. Supporters of a new agency say the FBI has been more concerned historically about criminal investigations than intelligence; opponents fear a domestic spy agency threatening Americans' privacy.

Edwards made it clear later at a Democratic fund-raiser in Los Angeles that he had backed away from that approach, proposed during last winter's primary elections, and that Kerry's plan was "our plan."

He said the plan was "just plain common sense."

"It's been almost three hears since 9/11. It won't take us three years to put the reforms in place," Edwards vowed.

IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE THIS BS, PLEASE GET YOUR VET FRIENDS TO SIGN UP ON http://Vets4Bush.com AND GET THEM TO VOTE FOR BUSH!

Maybe Kerry applied for replacement medals? (Still, wouldn't Kerry have used his original citation(s) signed by Zumwalt or Hyland? Unless he'd lost them?).

See what I mean? This makes no sense. Lehman also signed one of the Bronze Star citations.

But replacements based on what? Does he have the original certificate for the Bronze Star?

Okay, this is just weird. I was very naive when putting together my own page, back when. But I swear, I did NOT notice that signature - John Lehman, particularly on the Bronze Star.

This is just . . . strange. Kerry had two different documents awarding him the same Silver Star, and a document from John Lehman awarding him the Bronze Star. Is there a document from that era, awarding Kerry a Bronze Star? Did he get the Silver Star, and three Purple Hearts - and that was it?

I just wonder if anyone knows.

Yes, there is a timely-issued copy of the Bronze Star. And there at least THREE versions of the Silver Star. But my question isn't whether he was awarded the citations. It's whether he actually threw his medals away in the 60's...something he swears he didn't do.

If you go to Kerry's website and to findlaw.com you can download all known versions of both the Silver and Bronze star citations. I can't say why Kerry posted some versions, but not others.

The question is whether he, in fact, DID throw his own medals to protest the war. That's what he said for 15 years. Then he changed his story in the midst of his first Senate campaign when he discovered working stiffs didn't like his throwing his medals away. Suddenly he "admitted" he'd thrown someone else's medals and produced his own for a reporter to see. This revised story just happened to come at a time when Lehman was SecNavy.

I think he threw his own medals and then applied for replacements when he needed to change his story. Some enterprising reporter (or oppo researcher) should request all files related to every subsequent version of Kerry's citations.

Come to think of it, can WE file a Freedom of Information request????

Changing subjects.

TO THE OPPO RESEARCHERS

Kerry says he's opposed to same-sex marriage but thinks it should "be left to the states to decide".

Given the chance in the debates, this question should be put to Kerry...

"Ohio's legislature has passed the equivalent of the Defense of Marriage Act and Ohians are likely to pass a voter initiative declaring marriage to be between a man and a woman. You say let the states decide. If the courts tell Ohio it must recognize same-sex marriages performed in, let's say Massachussetts, how would you preserve Ohio's rights?"

What document does one request?

You're saying, however, that there is an original Bronze Star certificate, at Kerry's site? Because the one at the other site was also from Lehman. That's what I copied to my page, that day.

There's a photo of Kerry on the swift boat, sporting a star and Purple Heart, one each. It's undated. But you're sure he was awarded the Bronze Star, as well, for that third action, for which he also got the third Purple Heart, pulling the man from the water under fire?

And in applying, if he did, for a replacement, why do they rewrite the certificate? Why not just use the existing copy? Or were many of those lost? Were they ever dated? And who rewrote it? Did Kerry himself? Did Kerry write the first one, as well?

The RNC/BC '04 need to study George H.W. Bush's 1988 campaign against Mike Dukakis and copy it. Kerry is a nutty Massachusetts liberal, just like Dukakis. I like Bush's line about Kerry picking Edwards, the fourth-most-liberal Senator, and "that is what they call balancing the ticket in Massachusetts." Repeat this line constantly. Make Massachusetts the weirdo place that Bush Sr. did. Pick out a couple of really bad votes and hammer Kerry with them.

I really want to see the tapes of that New York fundraiser, and see them in some ads, even if they are 527 ads. While Kerry tells Lrry King he hasn't had time to receive an intelligence briefing, he had time to spend with his Hollyweird friends and then said their crudity represented the heart and soul of America. Lee Atwater would have hit this one right out of the park.

It's been a while since I looked at all the different versions of Kerry's citations. Best I can recall, there were 3 versions of the Silver Star (signed by Zumwalt, Hyland, Lehman) and 2 versions of the Bronze Star, one of them signed by Lehman.

As to which documents to request, I'd be interested in anything related to the issuance of each subsequent version of each citation. Specifically, what lead to the issuance of the Lehman citations? Was there a specific request? On what grounds?

Oh, and WHEN were the Lehman citations issued???

Wouldn't it be interesting if they were issued just shortly before Kerry changed his story to say he'd kept his medals?!

Subject: A Texas Soldier's Letter to Kerry

Dear Senator Kerry:

Since it has become clear that you will probably be the Democratic nominee for President, I have spent a great deal of time researching your war record and your record as a professional politician. The reason is simple, you aspire to be the Commander in Chief who would lead my sons and their fellow soldiers in time of war. I simply wanted to know if you possess the necessary qualifications to be trusted in that respect.

You see, I belong to a family of proud U.S. veterans. I was a Captain in the Army Reserve, my father was a decorated Lieutenant in World War II; and I have four sons who have either served, or are currently serving in the military. The oldest is an Army Lieutenant still on active duty in Afghanistan after already being honored for his service in Iraq. The youngest is an E-4 with the military police. His National Guard unit just finished their second tour of active duty, including six months in Guantanamo Bay. My two other sons have served in the national guard and the navy.

In looking at your record I found myself comparing it not only to that of my father and my sons, but to the people they served with. My father served with the 87th Chemical Mortar Battalion in Europe. They landed on Utah Beach and fought for 317 straight days including the Cherbourg Peninsula, Aachen, the Hurtgen Forest, and the Battle of the Bulge.

You earned a Silver Star in Vietnam for chasing down and finishing off a wounded and retreating enemy soldier. My father won a Bronze Star for single handedly charging and knocking out a German machine gun nest that had his men pinned down. You received three purple hearts for what appears to be three minor scratches. In fact you only missed a combined total of two days of duty for these wounds. The men of my father's unit, the 87th, had to be admonished by their commanding officer because: "It has been brought to our attention that some men are covering up wounds and refusing medical attention for fear of being evacuated and permanently separated from this organization..." It was also a common problem for seriously wounded soldiers to go AWOL from hospitals in order to rejoin their units.

You used your three purple hearts to leave Vietnam early. My oldest boy came home from Iraq with numerous commendations and then proceeded to volunteer to go to Afghanistan and from there back to Iraq again. My sons and father have never had anything but the highest regard and respect for their fellow soldiers. Yet, you came home to publicly charge your fellow fighting men with being war criminals and to urge their defeat by the enemy. You even wrote a book that had a cover which mocked the heroism of the U.S. Marines who raised the flag on Iwo Jima. Our current crop of soldiers has a philosophy that no one gets left behind; and they have practiced that from Somalia to the battlefields of the Middle East. Yet as chairman of a Senate committee looking into allegations that many of your fellow servicemen had been left behind as prisoners in Vietnam, you chose to defend the brutal Vietnamese regime. You even went so far as to refer to the families of the POWs and MIAs as Professional malcontents, conspiracy mongers, con artists, and dime-store Rambos.

As a Senator you voted against the 1991 Gulf War, and have repeatedly voted against funds to supply our troops with the best equipment, and against money to improve our intelligence capability. I find this particularly ironic since as a Presidential candidate you are highly critical of our pre-war intelligence in Iraq. However, you did vote to authorize the President to go to war, but have since proceeded to do everything you can to undermine the efforts of our government and our troops to win. Is this what our fighting men and women can expect of you if you are their Commander in Chief? Will you gladly send them to war, only to then aid the enemy by undermining the morale of our troops and cutting off the weapons they need to win?

Our country is at war Senator, and as has been the case in every war since the American Revolution, a member of my family is serving their country during the war. Now you want me to trust you to lead my sons in this fight.

Sorry Senator, but when I compare your record to those who have fought and died for this nation, and are currently fighting and dying, the answer is not just no, but Hell No!

Sincerely,

Michael Connelly February 14, 2004 Dallas, Texas

Atheists Endorse Kerry-Edwards Ticket

The Godless Americans Political Action Committee (GAMPAC) has formally endorsed John Kerry for President. The committee, that was formed in March, announced at a press conference that they represent nearly 30 million Americans that could translate into as many votes. Their website is: www.godlessamericans.org

This endorsement of Kerry, by those who do not believe in God, and want to outlaw all references to God in public places, re-define marriage, make homosexuality the norm, advance a culture of vulgarity and kill all babies of inconvenience, [should not] come as a surprise. If elected, Kerry will fully represent them.

Before this latest endorsement, it was widely reported that the Muslims also (both in America and overseas), have stated their support of Kerry as well, according to media reports.

Since Muslims have made it clear that they plan to destroy America by any means and turn it into an Islamic nation, it could mean that [with] Kerry as the President of The United States, he would open the doors for them to carry out their mission. They seem to think so.

Kerry's anti-American statements and actions have given Muslims new hope for accomplishing their goals.

GAMPAC announced their endorsement of the Kerry-Edwards ticket on July 14, 2004. It is interesting to note on the bottom of their news release, this statement:

"The GAMPAC supports and endorses Atheist candidates for public office."

If Kerry really was a good Catholic, and sincere, as he would have all voters believe, he would never have received this endorsement from "Godless Americans." They know who he is. Bishops, take notice.

The news release follows:

"Mobilizing America's Nonbelievers for Political Activism"

Godless Americans Group Announces Endorsement Of Kerry-Edwards
July 14, 2004

A newly formed group encouraging political action on behalf of “Godless Americans” has announced that it is endorsing the Sen. John Kerry for president and Sen. John Edwards for vice president in the 2004 national elections.

Ellen Johnson, Executive Director of the Godless Americans Political Action Committee, said that the Kerry-Edwards slate was “the clear choice over President Bush, who has spent the last four years eroding the separation of church and state, ‘packing the courts’ with judges who ignore the First Amendment, and imposing a de-facto Religion Tax through the federal faith-based initiative.”

Johnson said that the PAC grew out of the November, 2002 Godless Americans March on Washington that brought thousands of nonbelievers to the nation’s capitol for a rally on the mall.

“There are nearly 30 million Americans who describe themselves as having no religion,” said Johnson. “This includes Atheists, Freethinkers, Secular Humanists, Rationalists and others who have little or no voice in our political process, and who are often ignored by the major political parties.”

“We intend to change that.”

Johnson pointed out that political hopefuls “go out of their way to court voters in churches, mosques and temples” and woo “religious blocs” of voters.

“It’s time for them to wake up and realize that there is another ‘bloc’ they have to start paying attention to, and this is secularists who believe in the separation of church and state, and are determined to stand up for their civil rights.”

Johnson said that the Kerry-Edwards slate was “the best alternative to four more years of George Bush and Pat Robertson running the country.”

(The GODLESS AMERICANS POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE (GAMPAC) is an educational and political initiative focusing on issues of concern to Atheists. The GAMPAC supports and endorses Atheist candidates for public office.)
