AP SEEKS RELEASE OF BUSH MILITARY RECORDS (WHAT ABOUT KERRY'S MILITARY AND MEDICAL RECORDS?)
YAHOOO via AP | 7/16/04

WASHINGTON - The Associated Press asked a federal judge Friday to order the Pentagon (news - web sites) to quickly turn over a full copy of President Bush (news - web sites)'s military service record.

The White House has released partial documentation of Bush's military service in the Texas Air National Guard but has not complied with the news service's Freedom of Information Act request for any record archived at a state library records center in Texas, the AP said in a court filing.

Records released so far do not put to rest questions over whether Bush fulfilled his National Guard service for a period during the Vietnam War, the AP argued in papers filed in federal court in New York.

Those records came from federal records clearinghouses. Texas law requires separate record keeping for state National Guard service, and those records should exist on microfilm in Austin, the AP said.

"A significant, ongoing controversy exists over the president's military service during the Vietnam War, specifically whether he performed his required service between May and October 1972," lawyers for the AP wrote.

There also are allegations that potentially embarrassing material was removed from Bush's military file in 1997, when he was running for re-election as Texas governor, the AP said.

"The public has an intense and legitimate interest in knowing the facts concerning the president's military service. Reviewing the microfilm copy of the personnel file at the Texas Records center could well answer the questions that have been raised," the lawyers wrote.

The news service asked U.S. District Judge Harold Baer to hear arguments in the case and to direct the Pentagon to comply with the FOIA request within three days.

AP first sought the Texas records in March, and sued the Pentagon in April over the allegedly slow response.

The Pentagon said in June that military payroll records that could more fully document Bush's whereabouts during his service in the Texas Air National Guard were inadvertently destroyed. And microfilm containing the pertinent National Guard payroll records was damaged and could not be salvaged, according to the Defense Department.

The Wilson thing backfired right back in their faces. The AP is beyond despicable here and the Dems are in total panic mode. This has got to be the first time ever that an incumbent President is being forced to answer for events that occurred in the past. I don't think Bush's Air Guard service was ever brought up in 2000 as much as it is now and in February, or even during his campaigns for Texas Governor.

Wasn't this poor old horse beat to death some years ago? Our newsies must be really desperate, can't they find anything new to talk about--hey--I have one: The Democrats Fund Raiser Tape, with comments by Whoopie Goldberg--now why don't they go after that? Release the tape!

They want the ones from 1972 where supposedly he didn't show up for duty. Apparently the media is desperate for a nasty Bush story and they can't find one.

IMO, Bush and Rove are getting ready to unleash the MOAB against Kerry shortly after the Rat convention - the anti-war protests, Kerry's treasonous testimony in 1971, the New Soldier book, and Kerry's involvement with the radical left-wing group Vietnam Veterans Against the War - the commericals are coming That's why the AP is desperately looking for dirt on Bush's military service, which is akin to looking for a needle in a haystack.

Unfortunately for Democraps....the Senate Intel report, as well as the review of British Intel, shows that Wilson's claims of the Niger incident are bogus.

Not to mention that people have known for years about his wife....BECAUSE SHE TELLS FOLKS IN AN EFFORT TO IMPRESS THEM AT DINNER PARTIES!!!

When it comes to WILSON...the only investigation that should be going on is one into WHY WILSON DEFRAUDED THE US GOVT OUT OF AMERICAN TAX DOLLARS BY NOT DOING THE JOB HE WAS SENT TO AFRICA TO DO!!!. He has admitted himself that he just met with that one govt. official there and DID NOT GO INVESTIGATE THE AREAS THAT HE WAS SENT TO INVESTIGATE. He was not sent there to go to parties and dinners. This fraud that Wilson committed happened with US TAX DOLLARS!
Everyone from the Justice Dept. to Factory workers who pay taxes should be demanding Wilson's fat head on a platter.

I used to have a lot of respect for the AP but the news cooperative has clearly drawn the line with this suit. They obviously believe they have become the news maker instead of news reporter, a serious breech of journalistic ethics and tradition.

They have run low on new books, Abu Ghraib has been beaten into oblivion, there isn't much left.

Oh, they'll trot out the drugs and the DUI again. If they can keep the service stuff going this long, they can get more mileage out of those two.

Actually they have already gotten records that show he had his full hours worked for that quarter in that time frame.

Look, the media knows he showed for required duty hours.
There is a Major and a Secretary out in Bama that have already talked about this.

Seriously doubt it. The Bush campaign is too afraid to go for the jugular. They'll keep focusing on Kerry's flip-flops and his attendance record in order to "stay above the fray," which will result in another 2000 election-like photo finish.

And the media is clueless that the public will be going "Aw, not this s**t again?"

This will not stop until each and every vestige of anything having to do with President Bush's Clinton's life is investigated, castigated, and thoroughly dissected to the nth degree. It will definitely not stop until after the November elections. He must be a pretty strong man to listen to this day after day.

There, I fixed it in the interest of consistency.

I hated Clinton, but I'm not in denial about politics.

Here are the facts once again:

The Real Military Record of George W. Bush: Not Heroic, but Not AWOL, Either (link)

"It's time to set the record straight. The following analysis, which relies on National Guard documents, extensive interviews with military officials and previously unpublished evidence of Bush's whereabouts in the summer and fall of 1972, is the first full chronology of Bush's military record. Its basic conclusions: Bush may have received favorable treatment to get into the Guard, served irregularly after the spring of 1972 and got an expedited discharge, but he did accumulate the days of service required of him for his ultimate honorable discharge."

Please read the whole article and pass it on to everyone. This call for the Bush military records is bogus, they have been published ad-nauseum - what we don't have are John Kerry's military records and for good reason...... HOW DID JOHN KERRY MANAGE TO GATHER 3 PURPLE HEARTS FOR MINOR WOUNDS AND A QUESTIONABLE SILVER STAR IN LESS THAN FOUR MONTHS...WHO WROTE UP HIS COMMENDATION PAPERS??????? THAT PERSON HAS YET TO STEP FORWARD IF IT IS SOMEONE OTHER THAN JOHN KERRY HIMSELF - THERE ARE MANY WHO SERVED WITH HIM THAT HAVE PUBLICLY STATED JOHN KERRY IS NOT FIT TO SERVE AS PRESIDENT OF THIS COUNTRY. JOHN KERRY REPORTED TO THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES THAT ATROCITIES WERE COMMITTED THAT HE WAS "WITNESS" TO OR HAD BEEN TOLD ABOUT YET HE DID NOT REPORT THESE MYTHICAL ATROCITIES TO HIS COMMANDING OFFICER (S) AS HE WAS REQUIRED TO DO.

JOHN KERRY HAS A LOT OF ANSWERING TO DO ABOUT HIS VERY OWN VIET NAM AND WHY HE HAD NON-VETS TESTIFY WITH HIM. KERRY AND HANOI ARE STILL COZY AS ARE HIS RELATIONS WITH THE UNITED NATIONS...THIS SENATOR IS NOT AND NEVER WILL BE FOR THE REPUBLIC OF AMERICA NOR ITS CONSTITUTION – HE IS NOT A REAL AMERICAN AND NEVER HAS BEEN AND THE AL QAEDA TERRORISTS ARE PLANNING ON JOHN KERRY BEING PRESIDENT SO THEY MAY CONTINUE AT THEIR LEISURE TO TERRIFY AMERICA AND THE WORLD – A BETTER RUNNING MATE WOULD HAVE BEEN KOFI ANNON.

It should surprise no one that the aging Baby Boomers at the AP are still stuck back in the Flower Time of the 1960's.

Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam, they all cry.

Yawn. Boring...

The media has already gotten the records that Bush performed his required duty hours in Bama. THey have already gotten the copy of letter that Bush recieved from the SGT at the Texas base which had his orders for TDY and transfer and showed that he was not to show up until a certain (later) date because current flight training times were filled.

Look, the Hour requirements for pilots in the Air Guard don't work like the media and their liberal dem puppet masters are trying to represent. I have the joy of playing golf quite a bit with two Air Guard pilots and we talk about this very issue quite a bit these days.

Air Guard pilots don't just show up on a one weekend a month schedule. Some days are done on a Wed. or other days of the week. This happens because many reserve pilots are also Airline Pilots...and if the Guard did not have a flexible schedule for these guys....they would lose many pilots.
ALSO- The hour/days requirement can be done on a quarterly/period/year like basis. And you don't necessarily get paid for all hours. Someone may need to make up hours before the end of the quarter/period....so they will go in and work..and not get paid.
IN G W BUSH's case....He was told by a by the folks in Bama to not show up until a certain date...because all flight slots (which can be signed up for in advance) were already filled up and there would not be any more until the next period. SO they had him show up and fill any needed hour/days towards the end of that period. He was never AWOL. He even did some of his days for free...so he could keep his Officer status on track. He also gave up flight status so he could still work in the Guard in Bama...which is heart breaking for pilots (think about it...no more stick time in the greates thrill ride you can get paid to fly in).
AND- there has already been an Alabama women who they reported in the papers in Bama who said that she helped schedule stuff for the political campaign office that GW was working in...AND THERE WERE TIMES WHEN HE HAD TO WEAR HIS UNIFORM TO THE OFFICE AND LEAVE EARLY TO GO TO THE BASE AND PERFORM DUTY TIME.

Its amazing the parts of the story that the liberal media does not want to rehash.

Agreed. I have actually tried to figure out the exact number of how many days he would have spent in the field, with pcsing in and out, injuries, trasnfers, paperwork, travel and such. Not 4 months. Supposedly, there is no card for the 1st Purple Heart. How exactly did he receive the Silver Star and who signed off on it? And the Band Aid PH was asked for and refused once, then signed off on in a pile. How did he get the 3rd? How did he KNOW about the 3 wounds and you're out thing? How did he end up working for a New York Admiral 1 month after leaving Nam? Who washed his records? Where are THEY?

An expedited discharge is not hard to get.
You go in...tell the wing, flight, and squad commanders that you have a work or academic schedule coming up...and if you have reached a certain point in duty performed...you show them documents showing that you are accepted for grad school...or hired for an away job....
Then they just put ya on Inactive Ready Reserve and set you up for your honorable discharge.
You don't have to be a Politician's son or from a Rich family to get it either. I know a soldier whose father is a truck driver who got one.
I would not be surprised if John Kerry has an early discharge on his record as well.
