Would you like to support our troops? Please consider "adopting" a soldier by writing them letters and sending them packages. You can do so at www.operationmilitarysupport.com.
We adopted a 22-year-old Marine who is stationed near Fallujah. We have exchanged several letters with him and have sent a couple of packages so far. In his first letter to us, he wrote, "Thank you for taking the time to support the troops. It is a great encouragement to know people appreciate what we are fighting and dying for."
In his latest letter, he said that he knows another Marine who is not getting any mail or packages sent to him. So we will adopt his buddy, too! It is so exciting to get letters from him, and we feel privileged to know this brave young Marine.
If you want to support our troops in a tangible and meaningful way, please consider adopting a soldier. A simple letter from the states can brighten a soldier's otherwise hot and sandy day over there!
So check out www.operationmilitarysupport.com. If you want to adopt a soldier, just click on "Request A Name" and fill out the form. They will email you back in a few minutes with the name and address of a soldier. Also check out the "Letters from the Troops" and the "Gallery"!
God bless America and our brave fighting men and women!
GOTTA SEE THIS!!!

In case you haven't seen it yet, it's a slideshow of our troops set to the "American Soldier" song by Toby Keith (I think that's who sings it). Originally posted by Jeffrey H. Get ready to grab the Kleenex!
Thanks
Perfect post
Thank you! I just hate to think of any of our soldiers over there not getting mail. My goal is to send one letter a week or so, and one package a month, to our Marines. They gotta know that we love them!!
A question to any/everyone, why is it that most of the pictures of the soldiers I see online are of white (maybe hispanic) guys? I dont see alot of black soldiers. As I recall, blacks tend to be somewhat over represented in the armed forces, especially the Army. It just seems that most of the pics I see are of white guys (no, I am not complaining, just wondering).
Says "Request a name" is not available at this time.
Wassup??
Any of yall done this? I checked it out and was told no names available but donations needed. It was posted that approved by the DoD (?) Do they do this? If legit I wouldn't mind.
Fercryinoutloud! where are the ADDRESSES for these kids???? AND their commanders???
Abigail, they look so very young. Our grandsons will soon be their age. :-( This is beautiful.
Oh, it does day that Request A Name is not available at this time.
What that means is that they have run out of names of soldiers for right now. Please keep checking back though! Wouldn't ya know it...The last time I told some of my friends about Operation Military Support, the same thing happened. I kept checking back and new names did become available after a while, which is when we got our Marine.
How it works is that OMS asks commanders to list soldiers who are not receiving mail. So I guess you could say that it's actually kinda good news that they have run out of names for now... You can donate money, as OMS does send large care package shipments sometimes and they need money for postage.
But please do keep checking back! Even if it is a few days or a few weeks. It's a great program and I feel so fortunate that we found this web site to adopt a soldier.
For anyone that would like to help our Troops, you can visit my profile page and we can hook you up with our brave heroes that could use a morale boost.
Thank you for a wonderful thread. Also, please contact Brad's Gramma and Kathy In Alaska. They can provide information as well.
In case y'all didn't see MoJo2001's post #11....please DO!
We've been very very successful with this. I can't encourage people ENOUGH to get involved with writing our troops!!!
Ping to the right thread.
Bumping the right thread!
(hehe)
ping for later
Oh.....sob....that's called smiling through the tears. They make you so proud.
Bump for later access!
Yes, that is Toby Keith. I love that song. And, his video that goes with that song is also awesome. I get tears everytime I hear that song.
Thanks for the info in letting people know how they can support the troops!
Like I said before, keep checking back with www.operationmilitarysupport.com as they will have more names of soldiers coming in that you can adopt.
Bump for the slideshow!
