Kerry reduces ads in Missouri, Arizona and the South

WASHINGTON - Despite promises to expand the election playing field, John Kerry has reduced his ad spending in Missouri, Arizona and throughout the South in the run-up to the Democratic presidential convention.

Kerry's advisers said they were not shrinking their political map, only saving resources for later in the campaign and redirecting ad money to hotly contested states like Florida and Ohio. President Bush's campaign called the strategy a sign of weakness in GOP-leaning territory.

I will agree that Bush is not currently the favorite in either MI or PA, but to say they are "out of play" at this point is plain silly.

With a few breaks, they could fall into our camp. If they do, then W wins in an electoral landslide. That may be a longshot, but it is still a possibility.

Who knows what events the next few months will bring.

Considering just how much of an advantage Gore had in 2K, I'm not at all worried about Kerry.

Consider;

1) Gore was considered a moderate by the populace. No way can Kerry pull off the facade. He is without a doubt the most leftwing candidate to ever win a major party nomination.

2) Gore could claim credit for a supposedly good economy.

3) Democrats didn't have to tallk about national security concerns because only a tiny percent of the electorate was worried about it.

4) Gore had the benefits of, essentially, incumbency.

5) The Left's hold on the media, while still strong, is weaker then 4 years ago.

6) Kerry has even less charisma then Gore.

7) MA elitists don't play well outside of MA. Gore's farmboy upbringing was a hoax, but one he could sell. Kerry is pretty much the antithesis of the average American.

and I could go on.

Mark my words. Barring something incredibly dumb on Bush's part (ie: dumping Cheney) he will win in a landslide.

Kerry is another Ed Muskie without the charisma. Come to think of it, they have the same long face. Hmmm!

Kerry will not win Florida. Same strategy the RATs used to defeat Jeb -- media even had polls tightening in 2002 and Jeb blew McBride out of the water.

Would expect the same thing to happen as this time every last Republican and Republican leaning voter in the Panhandle will stay and vote!

Which is why the NYT is coming out w/a speculative article on Cheney's health and how he might be pulling out. The media knows W is going to win.

There's no point in him running ads in the South. The only state where he has even a chance is Florida.

Yep. One should read suggestions and advice from political enemies as at best worthless and more often what is best for *them*.

If the Slimes says Bush should dump Cheney it means they think it will weaken him.

GW Bush will carry Florida with ease! He will pick off ten to twenty percent of the Jewish vote in south Florida and that will doom Kerry! All American Jewish voters are not idiots. As a matter of fact any Jew in America that votes for Kerry/Edwards is voting for their own death warrant!!!

I heard today (Rush) that Kerry's campaign staff employs THOUSANDS -- many attorney's, etc. Wonder if he is going the route that Al Gore went in 2000, when he had to slash his staff because of the out-of-control expenditures. Dims don't do budgeting very well.

"...I'm also very concerned about Florida (Ohio, too). The most recent polls have shown quite a bit of movement in Kerry's direction. And Jeb hasn't shown he can deliver FL for GW...last time around, we got lucky..."

It wasn't luck, ww. It was hard work and perserverance by a lot of people, including us FLA FReepers, that stopped the democRATS from cheating-out a theft for algore.

After that fiasco was finally over, I predicted that in 2002, Florida would be shown to be 2/3'ds Republican, since the new, tamper-proof voting machines would be in place, and the old 'punch-card', easily cheatable machinery would hit the scrap-heap.

I was right! Florida is solid for GWB!...........FRegards

NOW we all know the states that went for GW the last time in fly over country will probably still be ours...soooo I see a landslide to emerge...

AND, Kerry's strategy of bringing Edwards on to the ticket in order to force GW to spend more$ in the south, thus taking resources from the central and modweat battleground states has apparently gone pffffft! NC poll shows GW fifteen points up!!! LOL!
