NEWS FLASH: Ditka storms out of meeting
Wednesday, July 14, 2004
By The Leader-Chicago Bureau CHICAGO -- This morning in downtown Chicago, Mike Ditka left a secret meeting with IL GOP decision makers, angered about the media being tipped off.
Ditka was to meet with members of the IL GOP State Central Committee and to speak via conference call with national level Republicans.
As word of the meeting leaked out to the press, Ditka reportedly was angered when met by reporters, exited the meeting promptly and hopped into his black Escalade, and left, obviously upset.
Matt Drudge reported this morning that an announcement would be made at 9:30 am.
No word as to the ensuing discussion among state central committee members left at the meeting, which is still going on.
Ditka's willingness to take on the candidacy may be in doubt now.
Developing story . . .
_________
Crap i was hoping that he would jump in he was probably the only credible shot at retaining this seat and lets face it this year we need all the help we can get
Ok, who was the wise guy???
If I worked for Ditka, I would not want to be the one who leaked any story.
Ditka blew his stack? Hmmm ... now there's a surprise!
With emotional control such as that it is best he not try to run for public office.
Well, if you can't tolerate being screwed with by the press, then "United States Senator" is probably not the job for you.
I don't think he's PO'ed about being screwed with by the press... he's PO'ed about someone in the Illinois GOP tipping off the press about the secret meeting.
Darn......I want Iron Mike.
Heck, if he's that thin skinned, he probably doesn't belong in politics anyway. If he stays, he better learn to live with and handle leaks, not throw temper tantrums because of them. But then, maybe the leaked story isn't true....
hopefully this is just a deflection move to drag out the suspense before he officially announces...
I guess he wasn't too serious about applying for the job.
Takes the media attention away from that creep Obama, shows those cretins in the Windy City that the coach is still the coach and demonstrates his decisiveness and character.
Who's that wimp running against him, again?
"If I worked for Ditka, I would not want to be the one who leaked any story."
If you worked for Ditka, you wouldn't have leaked the story, you'd know better.
Memo to Mike Ditka:
Welcome to IL GOP politics, Mike. They know you very well, and just pushed the button required to get you to walk away.
If you are so easily led by the nose like this, you shouldn't run.
Best regards,
Badeye
I would be too. That's one thing about Schwartzenegger: it appears he can keep a lid on things--and so can his staffers. Enough of this leaking business. Politics need less of that, more of trustworthiness. Don't blame Ditka one teeney bit.
I was thinking about that footage...
You just know a Demmie campaign ad would feature clips of Ditka blowing his stack and probably using profanity from the sidelines.
Just a thought.
