Massive Explosion Heard in Iraqi Capital
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- A massive explosion rocked central Baghdad on Wednesday on the outskirts of the so-called Green zone.
Black smoke rose above the area. The area was once the headquarters of the U.S. occupation authorities. It now houses the U.S. and British Embassies.
There was no immediate word on casualties.

A strong explosion shakes Baghdad
A strong explosion shook Wednesday morning the center of Baghdad and a column of smoke rose perimeter of the "green Zone" which shelters the American embassy and the offices of the Iraqi authorities, according to correspondents' of the AFP.
The deflagration, which occurred towards 09H15 local (05H15 GMT) was followed by exchanges of shootings, and it were not clear for the moment if they are the explosion a booby-trapped car or shootings of rockets.

Big blast rocks centre of Baghdad
A powerful blast has rocked the centre of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
Smoke was seen rising near the entrance to the closed-off area known as the Green Zone.
It is where the US and British embassies and the offices of the Iraqi authorities are located.
There is so far no word on any casualties in the explosion, believed caused by a car bomb - gunfire was heard after the blast.

"Several victims" in the explosion of a booby-trapped car (police force)
A booby-trapped car exploded with the one of the entries of the green Zone Wednesday morning in Baghdad, leaving "several victims", indicated to the AFP an Iraqi police officer on the spot.
"It was a booby-trapped car which exploded with 09H20 local (05H20 GMT) at the entry reserved for the cars" of the civils servant of the government, this police officer indicated who expressed himself under cover of anonymity.
"It there has several victims", added this police officer, without specifying if it were about killed or of casualties.
