Attorney Michele Granda asked Superior Court Judge Carol Ball to block the state from enforcing the 91-year-old law, which prohibits marriages that would be illegal in a couple's home state. She said the statute violates both the U.S. Constitution and Massachusetts (search) law.

mass confusion w/o a constitutional amendment.
Wanna strike down a law from 1913? How about the federal income tax!
Wow, my map must be out of date. Exactly what part of NY borders on MA?
Let nothing stand in the way of the radical gay agenda! Surely there was a discriminatory intent behind the 1913 law!
For those Americans who are complacent about the march toward homosexual marriage, here's a preview of the future: (1) churches that refuse to marry homosexual couples -- or even speak out against it -- will have their tax exempt status denied as "discriminatory organizations." (The Supreme Court precedent for this is already in place under the BOB JONES decision of 1986; (2) homosexual marriage will have to be taught and accepted as the moral equivalent of normal marriage in all public schools and in the public forum, and (3) free speech rights of those who oppose homosexual rights will eventually be denied and fines and prison will be levied upon them for daring to utter such "hate speech." This is already happening in Canada and Sweden.
This nightmare is already at the door. The failure of conservatives to wake up and demand enactment of the Federal Marriage Amendment was the death knell of any opposition.
Their agenda is not just equality, they want special consideration and protection under the law for their perversion.
The eastern part of NY
Oh, that part. < blush>
I think it's already time for a much more robust response. First, "W" has to federalize the Massachusetts National Guard and direct it to seize the Massachusetts judiciary. They can then be shipped to our friends in Afghanistan for safe keeping, or possibly even storage in an international shipping container or two.
Second, "W" merely asks "Who's next? We've got a real war to fight with a bunch of people who want to kill all of us and no one has time for this nonsense from people who wish to misuse their private parts."
The phony claim of "states' rights" is being exposed once again.
Upstate! The Albany area!
Homosexual Agenda Ping - "Gay Marriage" - A Weapon of Mass. Desctruction.
What more need be said? They want to rule, crush, dominate, and destroy moral absolutes and all who believe in them.
They are the most intolerant, divisive, disrespectful, dishonest and untrustworthy group in the US today, possibly vying with any Al Qaeda nuke planners.
let me know if you want on/off this pinglist.
Hey, Muawiyah, stop trying to make friends with me!
You gotta point, ya know? I mean the Left is already accusing W of being a lying, Nazi dictator. Why not live up to their expectations for a change?
This is just their little plan so that other states will be forced to recognize their marriages. And the gays could care less about being married; what they want to is force acceptance of themselves to the point where the Christian religion is forced to be silent or else face "hate crime" accusations. As it is in Canada now.
Amen, brother.
Er, I'm a she.
No big deal, thanks for the amen!
