Iran's supreme leader on Tuesday accused U.S. and Israeli agents, not Muslims, of responsibility for the wave of beheadings and kidnappings in Iraq, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also described terrorism as a "loathsome, horrible" and said fighting it was "of great importance."
In comments made during a meeting with visiting Singaporean Prime Minister of Singapore Goh Chok Tong, Khamenei said: "We seriously suspect the agents of the Americans and Israelis in conducting such horrendous terrorist acts and cannot believe the people who kidnap Philippines nationals, for instance, or behead U.S. nationals are Muslims."
The state-run agency, which carried Khamenei's comments, did not elaborate on his remarks.
Iraqi-based insurgents snatched Filipino truck driver Angelo dela Cruz last Wednesday in one of the latest kidnappings by militants involved in the continuing violence in Iraq.
Insurgents had said they would kill dela Cruz, 46, by Monday evening if the Philippines did not agree to pull its 51-member peacekeeping force by July 20. The government on Monday restated that its troop commitment ended Aug. 20. Tuesday there was no word of what had happened to dela Cruz.
Numerous Islamic militant groups have claimed responsibility for similar operations in the country, including the beheadings of an American and a South Korean.
No, you've provided a Wikipedia reference to what a historical ANOMALY commited 50 years ago by one Israeli intelligence unit without the support of the civilian government. There's nothing in that passage that indicates a systemic pattern throughout the government at that time or links this behavior to later events. Saying that the current Israeli government continues Arab-masquerading shenanigans because of what some bumbling military unit did 50 years ago is like holding the entire U.S. government accountable for the actions of 6 idiot soldiers in an Iraqi...oh, wait. Who's the liberal now?
BWAHAHAHAH!!!
This turkey must be reading too much Storm Front.
Heh heh...those pesky Jooooos. Always starting something. Someone oughta come up with some kind of final solution to deal with these evil Joooos, right son?
I spanked him, the mods zotted him, and now he's going to run back to DU to tell everyone how he kicked my ass in a debate and totally pissed off the idiots at Free Republic.
Yeah, driving the Coalition out of Iraq is the top goal of the CIA and Mossad. It's our freaking master plan you goddamn, pointy-headed little theocrat.
Nah. He's probably too busy polishing his new jackboots.
I really believe him when he says this, also.
Aluminum foil fencing? Where are we to get our hats???
You didn't get banned for pointing something out. FR clearly states that accounts can be suspended or banned at the moderators' discretion.
Posting a link to a Wikipedia article doesn't establish an irrefutable connection to systematic Israeli deception over the last half century. If I get drunk tonight and never drink again for the rest of my life, am I an alcoholic? The burden of proof is on you to find credible evidence that the Israeli government is behind beheadings and other terrorist activity - not on me to disprove it.
The status quo has been affirmed already, and I simply support it. If you want to refute it convincingly, I suggest more than a link to one isolated incident 50 years ago. By posting that link, you inferred that because Israelis engaged in such an undertaking once (independently and without government consent) that it could ostensibly continue today. I hope you understand why those two posts were taken as such.
