I am most certainly glad that President Reagan did not live to see this.

Beauseant!

"Then we could have dueling Reagan sons," he said.

I hope not because that would be utterly tasteless. I think America will be turned off by little Ronny and democrats trying to cash in on Ronald Reagan's legacy this way. President Reagan was loved because of his convictions and American's will see this for what it is which is a cheap shot at Republicans and President Bush43.

If Michael Reagan wants to speak at the GOP convention then he should. But to have the GOP ask him to speak because Ron is going to speak at the Democrat convention just seems tasteless. It would be seen as two parties trying to cash in a dead man's legacy. It would not look right.

Ron Jr. shouldn't give a speech. If he were really honest about the issue, he would donate his body to research NOW!

There's no point in him doing so - findings gained from it are unlikely to generalize to human beings.

He's really not any of those things, but he did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I wondered why Ron's "wife" showed up one the second day of late President Reagan's funeral tributes

Did you notice that it was Michael that comforted her? It wasn't Ron. He paid no attention to her at all.

She was very clearly heartbroken over the death of her father-in-law...

And Michael took care of her.....

My great disappointment is the political opportunism this represents. Ron didn't speak out before his father died but now he's using his father's death and the good will that brought to the family for political expediency. This is *repulsive* behavior.

Notice Ron said he won't speak at the GOP convention even if it was to advocate on the same topic. Sadly, the Media will spin this just as the Dems would like.

Honestly, I hope Nancy stays out of the limelight of this year's convention rather than be some political pawn you all would like her to be.

In 2000, she emplored Republicans to get out and vote early, vote by mail but just vote out here in CA. For God's sake: Let her be. As a widow after 50+ years, caregiver for a decade, she deserves some peace.

And as for Michael Reagan, he's always been a graceless opportunist.

Let Laura Bush speak to this topic since she's also a child of an Alzheimer's parent and seems to share her husband's view on embryonic stem cell research.

I am not a pessimist, but I am a stone-cold realist.
My realistic assessment of everything I know about this election suggests a difficult and close race. It shouldn't be, because a joker like Kerry (and his party) shouldn't even be in the game. But he is right on Bush's heels, and I think he'll stay there.

I believe we will win, but we'll need to work for it.
I don't think the past is much of a guide to this one.

I think you're right. Let's call the RNC or the campaign and demand it.

This is the paragraph from Ronnie Jr's eulogy that shows the left in true form:

"Dad was also a deeply, unabashedly religious man. But he never made the fatal mistake of so many politicians wearing his faith on his sleeve to gain political advantage. True, after he was shot and nearly killed early in his presidency, he came to believe that God had spared him in order that he might do good. But he accepted that as a responsibility, not a mandate. And there is a profound difference."

For Ronnie Jr. to use the occasion of his father's death to make a veiled reference to President George W. Bush Christian faith is unforgivable. Those who saw him give this speech, did not fail to see the virulent nature of his attack. It was a despicable thing to do and the Demonrats will take it one step further to attack all Christians for their opposition to stem cell research.

Let me ask all those on the Free Republic this one question: Has the press given one sentenced to question the outrageous nature of Ronnie Jr.'s effort to Bash Bush at his father's funeral? I doubt it. In fact, Ronnie Jr. would have been the Man of the Year if he had at the end of his speech, dropped trou and flashed a "I hate Bush!" tattoo on his posterior. He would have been immediately called by the Kerry Campaign to be the Vice Presidential running mate. They will use any occasion to further their lefty cause, even if it means walking over their father's grave--or, in this case, the greatest president of this century's grave.

I understand where you're coming from, but if Michael Reagan has something to say and this is his chance to say it (at the GOP Convention), my feelings sure would not be hurt if he expressed his own personal reflections and lessons from his father to all Republicans.

I think Michael can answer whether or not it is "right" or "wrong" the best, and if he does or doesn't it won't offend most Republicans.

But if he does, it will definitely offend MOST DEMOCRATS.
