I don't think I can recall there being anywhere near this number of polls in any election. Of course, Clinton lived by the polls, and foisted them on the public for eight years. Now I think there's just good money being a pollster; it's become as corrupt and disingenuous as the media.
You are in the majority. 58% say they don't trust polls this far out from the election. 37% said they relied heavily on polls. 5% said that the Polish people should mind their own business.

I think the president will get a bigger bounce out of his convention. The president has just started hitting back this week after months of vicious attacks.
I think once he starts his full on campaign after the Republican convention he will get a nice lead.
It seems no matter what happens in the media IE prison abuse; 911 commission; all the bash Bush books; the Moore mockumentry, Bush never loses that much ground. Then he eventually pulls right back to tied with Kerry.
There will be little bounce this year for either. The networks will be doing far fewer prime time hours of the conventions than in the past.
No - they'll keep with the push polling. In any case, you've got an entire ESTABLISHMENT literally campaigning for the nominee of the national Dem Party. That's America, today. Hopefully, the American people would rather rule, than be ruled. We'll see.
And maybe Kerry will get a proper send-off at the convention. I hear Ron Reagan will speak. Wouldn't it have been great if the Dem had offered RONALD Reagan, the real Reagan, a chance to speak at the Democrat convention.
When Kerry gets beat in the election, will Edwards sue him for running a bad campaign?
All I need to remember is the "too close to call" polling the year Reagan buried Jimmuh.....post mortem shows that Carter knew he was toast two weeks before the election; but did we hear any of this?

Starting in 1952 the three major networks (and that is all there were) covered the conventions from gavel to gavel.
You could go to a movie theater or watch the conventions on TV. The vast majority of voters watched the conventions. Both parties got bumps from their conventions.
But in the last couple of cycles the networks have stopped covering the conventions. And tons of cable channels have never covered any of it.
So the swing voters are watching the movie channels or some channel besides the news channels or the much smaller major network coverage.
With far far fewer people watching there is bound to be a much smaller bounce. But the media lays out the expectation of a bounce, and then reports the bounce is smaller than expected. The inference is that the candidates do not appeal. The truth is he media has far less political clout than it once did. It can't create bounces as it once did.
They don't like it .. but it is true. The media has far less power to even temporarily influence voters. They don't like it and don't want to face it or admit it. But is is a fact.
Anyone listen to Fox News Sunday show and hear the Dem pollster telling Wallace that they have not done any internal polling since Edwards was added to the ticket.
Wallace called him on it, essentially saying the guy was not being completely truth (i.e. he was a liar) LOL.
Anyway, the Republican pollster, Dowd is his name (I think) talked about a post convention bump for the Dems and the Dem pollster was saying that wouldn't necessarily happen this go round, even though it had happened in the past.

After a mere two days on the campaign trail, the first signs of tension between John Kerry and running mate John Edwards emerged today as Sen. Edwards requested, firmly and unequivocally, that Mr. Kerry stop grabbing his ass.
“I think Sen. Kerry has made it very clear in our joint appearances that he is happy to have me on the ticket,” Mr. Edwards told reporters. “He really doesn’t have to prove it by repeatedly grabbing my ass.”
At a campaign stop in Pennsylvania today, Mr. Edwards was in the middle of a speech when he emitted a high-pitched yelp, apparently in response to yet another unexpected display of affection from Sen. Kerry.
“Jesus, John,” a visibly annoyed Mr. Edwards said to Mr. Kerry, who merely stood behind him smiling mischievously.
In a sign that Mr. Kerry’s unwanted embraces may be taking their toll on the newly-minted vice-presidential candidate, Mr. Edwards departed from his prepared remarks, telling hs audience, “There are two Americas – one that gets to grab ass, and one that gets its ass grabbed.”
Intriguingly, a source confirmed that Mr. Kerry’s penchant for ass-grabbing was the principal reason Rep. Dick Gephardt (D-Missouri) did not make the Democratic ticket: “The whole idea of it grossed Dick out.”
Elsewhere, indicted former Enron CEO Ken Lay today announced that he would seek amnesty by applying for a position as an Iraqi insurgent.
And in Washington, Attorney General John Ashcroft told all Americans to be on the lookout for a terror suspect disguised as an obese man wearing glasses and a baseball cap, accompanied by a documentary film crew.
