Backup electrical systems failed to kick in

A mysterious power failure at Logan Airport that delayed dozens of flights for more than five hours has still not been explained – six days later.

Airport officials insist airline security was not compromised during the blackout Monday at Logan International's Terminal E, but backup electrical systems failed to kick in as they are programmed under such circumstances.

Just thinking out loud here:

I just read the SE Asian nuke story, and it has a certain ring of credibility, but I would be curious about what specialties the foreigners brought to the construction/upkeep of the weapon?

My guess is each of the people had their own political motivations, as well as their own scientific specialties in weapon construction and care.

If this is the case, could it be the the beginning of an underworld alliance with the jihadists and other groups who pool their resources with the goal of the destruction of the US?

This needs investigation, but it doesnt look like there is enough detail to investigate it to a conclusion.

Here's a good site for people who are prepping, or otherwise interested in electricity:

There were two brownouts here in Houston early this morning.
Had to reboot both times. (grumble grumble)

Nix my last post. jerseygirl just posted one update.

The latest in Tallahassee is this (no dump truck in these articles):

***
Tallahassee melts, crashes in massive power failure

Half of Tallahassee sweltered without power in 90 degree-plus heat this afternoon as city utility workers scrambled to bring three generating units back online.

With almost half of the city's 300 traffic lights out because of the massive power failure, car crashes were frequent. Police planned to direct traffic at major intersections during rush hour, but the mayhem began early as people left work early because of the lack of electricity.

Police reminded motorists to treat intersections with non-functioning lights like four-way stops and to be very careful when entering intersections.

The power failure began about 1:30 p.m. with a malfunction in the city's Purdom plant at St. Marks, which just went back online a week earlier. By 2 p.m., the problem had cascaded and the city's two power plants -Purdom and Hopkins - had lost all generating capacity.

At the time, the city's electric utility was runing a load of about 550 megawatts, near its record high of 590 megawatts. By 4 p.m., the city was generating 100 watts of power, using all the city's small gas turbine and emergency peaking units and the 10 megawatt hydroelectric generator on Lake Talquin. In addition, power was being purchased from other sources and brought in on city transmission lines.

Utility customers with power were asked to set their air-conditioning thermostats at 78 degrees, keep their refrigerator and freezer doors closed and to turn off all non-essential appliances.

City officials were hopeful that power could be restored to all customers within two or three hours, but many city customers remained without power almost three hours after the initial failure.

Currently, all small gas turbine and emergency peaking units have been started, and are generating 100 megawatts of power. Other power is being brought in on city transmission lines. Work is underway to bring up Generating Units Hopkins1 and 2, and Purdom Unit 8.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. this afternoon, the City of Tallahassee experienced a malfunction that by 2 p.m. resulted in generators at the city's two power plants losing all generating capability. This has resulted in widespread power outages with approximately half of the city's 97,000 customers losing power.

The most critical impact is in terms of traffic, as up to 120 traffic lights are inoperable of the nearly 300 traffic lights in the city. Motorists are reminded to treat any intersection without an operating traffic light as a four way stop and to use extreme caution when crossing intersections.

The City's electric utility was running a load of about 550 megawatts when the generators went down. The record high is 590 megawatts. Currently, all small gas turbine and emergency peaking units have been started, and are generating 100 megawatts of power. Other power is being brought in on city transmission lines. Work is underway to bring up Generating Units Hopkins1 and 2, and Purdom Unit 8. At the present time, it is estimated that the majority of service could be restored within the next few hours.

Residents who have lost power are asked to please manually turn off their air conditioning system so that power will not overload during startup operations. Refrigerator and freezer doors should remain closed to help keep food inside cold. Those with electricity are asked to please conserve power usage by raising thermostats to at least 78 degrees or higher and restricting use of electric appliances.

Tallahassee Police officers will be staffing key intersections at peak afternoon drive time as needed. City residents can assist by dialing "911" only in the case of a true emergency and not to report a power outage.

Power knocked out in parts of Tallahassee; red lights out

Associated Press

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Power was knocked out Tuesday to about half of Tallahassee when two generators serving the city failed. Officials said temperatures in the mid-90s likely played a part in the outage.

The brownout left about half the city's 97,000 power customers without electricity for a couple hours early Tuesday afternoon after the city's two main generating plants both failed around the same time, said city spokesman Bill Behenna.

He said the city-owned utility was "on its way to a record load," when the generators failed, with temperatures in the mid-90s and a heat index around 100. Behenna said officials weren't sure yet whether high usage was definitely to blame, but expected it at least played a role in the power failure.

The brownout caused 120 traffic lights around the city to go out about the same time, and officials were hoping to get them working before the afternoon rush hour.

Power at the 22-story Capitol building was out for about 20 minutes but was restored by mid-afternoon, a Capitol Police spokesman said.

What really caught my eye on the map that was posted was that the marked cities made three vertical bands, seperated by two open areas. I immediately thought back to the comments about "splitting the country into three parts". Perhaps someone already noticed this, as well, but the pattern really jumped out at me.

IMO- the promised beginning of the Cave of Darkness

THIS IS FROM GLOBAL ISLAMIC MEDIA VIA JILL'S SITE:

Allahu Akkbar s.a.w.

Nuclear Attack Info from Monday's Page

Special Editorial - State of the World - by Aljernaan
Aljernaan Commentary on intercepted message on Monday.

There is no way to confirm the validity of the alledged message sent from the al Queda describing the Cave of Darkness and stating there are now three suitcase nukes in place which will be detonated.

We know the Al Queda have the nukes, we know it is possible and even likely there will be several types of attacks from the terrorists soon.

Of course we at GIM are not terrorists and do not support attacks on the U.S. nor do we support attacks on Iraq in which civilians are killed.

The arbitrary choice of the U.S. of who should have nuclear weapons and who should not, is not really a decision the U.S. should have the power to determine or exert physical force and invade countries over. Israel currently has nuclear weapons, Korea has them, Pakistan, and India. Iran is posturing to declare having them as is Syria.

U.K. politics is rather simple at this point. Blair supported the Bush administration with doctored up intelligence of WMDs.

Personally, we have reports of the existence of these weapons, but the real delicate part is whose name, which country sold and manufactured the weapons which are in Iraq. Is it better to deny the existence of these weapons rather than reveal their source? There are secrets which have yet to hit 60 minutes which make the horror of Giraub prison look like mild deception compared to enormous hidden activities and operations behind the scenes, that we personally cannot even post here, they are so dangerous.

We would be immediately arrested or simply disappear. The intelligence has known and denied that the Al Queda has had suitcase nukes, but they have had them for two years at least.

For every soldier killed in Iraq, 100 innocent civilians have died. Iraq owes Russia and France billions for weapons supplied during the "sanction period" and billions of gallons of oil flowed freely and financed Saddam's regime, when such transactions were in violation of the U.N. resolutions. Everyone has dirty hands when it comes to dealing with Iraq and the oil situation. Twenty billion dollars of the Iraqian people's oil money has been spent, and with the change of government all the accountants have gone home, and there will never be a formal accounting of this money.

We could go on. We go through thousands of documents of the secret dealings between countries, special interest deals and contracts, and see corruption at every level and in every department of government in the U.K. and U.S. But this is Global Islamic News.

The "terrorists" or freedom fighters - from whatever view are not done.

They have and Osama has, we know for a fact, a very concise plan for not only attacks inside America and on American interestes all over the world, but imminent plans of splinter groups to shut down the American power grid, blow up sports stadiums,

Sarin the tubes in London,

and nuke not New York or D.C. but other poorly guarded large cities.

We try to bring you here what is the fine line of truth between the terrorists and the Western propaganda machine. And we shall from wherever on whatever site, whether in Germany, Hong Kong, Malyasia, or even Pakistan continue to do so. You deserve what the Arabic word Shahid stands for - and this is - textual evidence of the Truth and Daleel the proof that unfolds or what is true - where there is smoke- there is fire - where there is deception there is corruption - and where there is corruption there this the need of sites such as GIM to provide evidence and a clear view of that Truth.

I agree with you about it being that way all along. This is the first report I've seen that brushes it but doesnt quite paint it.

Globalists are a threat to the continuity of the United States just as much as the jihad freaks are. If they combine and it could be empirically proven, it would be an advance in recognition for our side.

Al-Qaida's OKC bombing/9-11 ties

by William F. Jasper

(snippet)

Al-Qaeda ties to the OKC bombing were not mentioned in the state trial of Terry Nichols, yet evidence used by federal prosecutors in recent cases makes the ties obvious.

Zacarias Moussaoui, dubbed the "20th hijacker" by federal prosecutors, would have been released from federal custody before the 9-11 attacks if not for the heroic persistence of field agents in the FBI’s Minneapolis office. Agent Coleen Rowley and members of her FBI team carried on a running fight with top FBI and Justice Department officials who tried to stop the Minnesota investigation and prevented a search of his laptop computer until after his fellow conspirators crashed their hijacked planes on September 11.

Moussaoui, a French citizen of Moroccan descent, was arrested by the local FBI agents after investigating a tip from Minnesota flight school operators who were suspicious over the nature of his requests for training on a 747 simulator. He has admitted to being a member of Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaeda terrorist group, but denies that he was part of the 9-11 conspiracy. His trial has been delayed by his erratic behavior and numerous appeals.

There are many important, unanswered questions concerning Moussaoui. For instance: Why have federal officials pointedly ignored publicly available facts showing that most of the $64,000 he received from al-Qaeda sources was spent in the Oklahoma City area, where he attended the Airman Flight School in nearby Norman and had ties to a top suspect in the 1995 bombing of Oklahoma City’s Murrah Building? The largest chunk of Moussaoui’s funds, $35,000, was provided by al-Qaeda paymaster Yazid Sufaat, one of the principal hosts of the secret al-Qaeda planning meeting for 9-11 in Malaysia. Moussaoui, according to federal authorities, was operating under the direction of al-Qaeda mastermind Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, who met in the Philippines with his nephew, World Trade Center bomber Ramzi Yousef, during the same time period that Yousef was meeting with Terry Nichols.

September 11 hijacker Ziad Jarrah’s ticket (United Airlines Flight 93) was purchased from a computer terminal at Oklahoma University in Norman. Moussaoui was a frequent visitor to the OU campus, worked out at the OU gym and recruited OU student Hussain Al-Attas. September 11 hijacker Mohammed Atta, a member of al-Qaeda’s cell in Hamburg, Germany, visited the same Norman, Oklahoma, flight school that Moussaoui attended.

Fellow Hamburg Cell hijacker Marwan Al-Shehhi also came to the Oklahoma City area, where he got a speeding ticket in 2001. According to the testimony of the owner of a small motel in Oklahoma City, Moussaoui, Atta and Al-Shehhi all came to his motel together to rent a room about six weeks prior to the 9-11 attacks. Six years earlier, Oklahoma City bombing conspirators Timothy McVeigh and Nichols also were guests at the same motel, along with several Middle Eastern men, weeks prior to the OKC bombing.

BTW, did you know Rajiv Gandhi was killed by a female suicide bomber who had taped explosives with shrapnel imbedded in it between her breasts? She had a bare midriff and a sarong on, from the pictures I remember seeing in the training session I went to.

well, which is it? if it's this, then it can't be "muslims leave NY, DC, and LA" because the three nukes are to be detonated elsewhere

if she's for real and she "knows for a fact," she can't be as unconnected as she claims

imo this itself can't be any kind of beginning. this itself really looks more and more like psyops, either sophisticated or crude
