Just thinking out loud here:

I just read the SE Asian nuke story, and it has a certain ring of credibility, but I would be curious about what specialties the foreigners brought to the construction/upkeep of the weapon?

My guess is each of the people had their own political motivations, as well as their own scientific specialties in weapon construction and care.

If this is the case, could it be the the beginning of an underworld alliance with the jihadists and other groups who pool their resources with the goal of the destruction of the US?

This needs investigation, but it doesnt look like there is enough detail to investigate it to a conclusion.
