Bush's cat India gets Indians enraged
By Indo-Asian News Service
Thiruvananthapuram, July 2 (IANS) Angry youths in this Kerala capital Friday burnt an effigy of US President George W. Bush, not because they are anti-American but because he has named his cat India.
Members of the citizens group Prathikarana Vedi assembled before the Kerala assembly saying that Bush calling his cat India was an insult to the country.
"This is a disgrace to our great country and this has come from none other than US President George W. Bush. This is nothing but an insult to India because there are hundreds of thousands of Indians in US, and many who occupy key posts in the White House," said M.A. Latheef, president of the group.
"He should make amends," Latheef added.
The members of the group walked to the front gate of the assembly building but were stopped by police. After a brief speech and some slogans, the members burnt an effigy of the US president.

You think about it a moment and you will see that IF Tibet regains independence whatever force that might be is going to bring it into conflict with every single surrounding state, no matter what they are called!
Living here in a neighborhood with several people from different parts of Kashmir I learned quickly to always refer only to the geographic structure of the area and not to the geopolitical details.
As I said, it's far more complex than I described. No doubt it could get worse.

They've resurrected this old
issue nonissue? I remember reading about this years ago. Here's another photo of the little beauty, India.

So if I named my cat after India Wilkes (Ashley Wilkes sister in "Gone With The Wind") would Indians be offended?

You said: if Tibet ever regains it's independence, Tibet and Kashmir will have overlapping claims to the same desolate mountains
I proved you wrong. Tibetan independence would be instigated by India who would want a return to pre-1949 days when they had a border state separating China from India.

Look at the map in #160: It's not that complicated.

Oh, good grief!
I named my puppy Melvin because he reminded me of Mel Gibson- handsome, yet mischievous.
I expect Mr. Gibson to stop by any day now to protest! :P

Naw, Tibetan independence will be instigated by indigenous forces loyal to the Dalai Lama. He will provide them with extraordinarily powerful weapons secretly sold to him by the United States.
Even the country calling itself "India" will find itself in trouble with these guys!

thats because, we indians dont call indian as our mother land for nothing. We respect it as our mother.
Instead of naming ur dog as Mahatma, try naming it as Abraham Lincoln.
