One gets the sense that Andrew's brain favours Cheney and other portions favour Edwards.

In any event, my sympathy is with this fellow:

Regards, Ivan

I can't wait for the debate:

"I find your lack of faith disturbing."

And... welcome back, Ivan! You've been missed!

What Andrew views as Cheney's cold gruffness, others may view as a direct, blunt truthfulness. And what he sees as Edwards' charm and hope, others may see as insincere lawyerly pandering, and dishonest sleaze.

Does this mean Dick Cheney is John Edwards's father?

People who think this way about Cheney have spent more time listening to the media describe him than they have actually listening to Cheney. Ever since Gulf War One I have thought he is exceptionally intelligent and well spoken.

I BEG to differ! The comparison could not be more wrong.
Luke Skywalker kicked a--. He didn't try to understand the Empire, he blasted the hell out of them.
Bush is closer to the more direct, the sh-- stops here Skywalker than this wussy Edwards.
I am OFFENDED!

It's a very funny analogy, but if Cheney is Darth Vader, Edwards is the cloned bounty hunter, not Luke.

Somehow I doubt that Cheney and Edwards are related.

So much for the Skywalker/Vader comparison. Cheney will eat Edwards alive.

He's got the right movie Ivan, but Cheney is OB1 Kanobe. Edwards is Darth Mol using mind tricks. "It's not too hard with the weak minded." OB1 Kanobe - Star Wars IV

Since the Conservative South went Republican (Carter's defeat) nobody votes based on who is running for Vice-President. Kerry is just as dead in the water as he ever was. He has no platform to run on except to attack President Bush.

This is what Edwards represents. He is an extremely liberal senator, even though he is from the South.

What does he mean "even though"? Has this guy ever heard of Mary Landrieu (sp?), Mark Pryor, Ernest Hollings, that Gramm guy from Floridia, that Nelson guy from Floridia.

I'm sure there are more out there but those are some I can name off the top of my head.

Kerry and Edwards were very touchy-feely, clasping each other, always close, almost the definition of the “new men” of the boomer era. You simply couldn’t imagine Bush and Cheney having such a physical rapport.

I thought they looked kinda gay. And the fact that Andrew Sullivan thought it was so wonderful confirms my opinion.

Isn't Andrew Sullivan also a "new man" of the boomer era? Not that there'a anything wrong with that ...

By making the Luke Skywalker versus Darth Vader dichotomy, Andrew Sullivan makes this race good against evil. It may very well be, but poor old Andrew is not thinking with the head on his shoulderes, and has it backwards.

I for one, have absolutely no need to see Bush and Cheney, embrace, hug or whatever.

The only reason Andrew is into hyperbole over Edwards is because Edwards is "cute".
