"Nah, I lament other things too."

Yep. Me too.

They never promised us a rose garden, but did we really need all these weeds? (no pun intended) ;)

That said, cigarette smokers are slobs.

How wonderfully conservative of you.

There are no individuals, only groups, defined by the fashion of the moment, right?

Keep fighting the good fight, clueless one.

It must be comforting to jump on a winning bandwagon, finally.

We're slobs.

My Gawd! You surely would think so, wouldn't you!

I wonder how many condoms they counted but refused to admit!

Anything to pick on a tax paying smoker.

If they're worried about people throwing cigarette butts all over the place, then why don't they just pass a "No Littering" law that includes cigarette butts under the new definition of litter? Because that really isn't what this is all about. It's just an excuse to make all smokers (regardless of whether they litter or not) unwelcome in yet another venue, public beaches.

They gave themselves away the moment they mentioned the NicoNazis' sacred cow: Secondhand Smoke. Secondhand smoke in the great outdoors (on a windy beach of all places) is a public health hazard now?? Well, I suppose it is if you throw in the obligatory "baby sucking on discarded cigarette butt" anecdote. This seems to happen quite often. Particularly on beaches where they're considering banning smoking. Some anti-tobacco lobbyist always relays the same horror story: He/She/It saw a sweet cherub-faced little angel put a filthy, discarded cigarette butt (gasp!) in her precious little mouth.

I lived on the coast for ten years and spent much time at the beach. I have never once seen such an occurrence as the one mentioned above. I have also never once polluted a beach with my cigarette butts. I use an empty soda can as an ashtray, then discard the can in the trash. How hard is that? So, why should I be barred from smoking on a beach? Oh yeah that's right... evil secondhand smoke.

Well, I have a theory about secondhand smoke on the beach: It's rendered harmless to others by all the boomboxes playing at 3 trillion decibels. The vibration in the air from said boomboxes blasts the secondhand smoke until it surrenders to the greater evil (rap music) and becomes an inert substance that is then rapidly propelled outside the known solar system via overwhelming decibel power. Therefore, it is not harmful to others for me to relax on the beach with a book and a soda and a cigarette (and a pair of earplugs). So what's the problem?

I actually thinks this goes beyond theory to the realm of the proven.

Peer over the curb in any city, what do you see? Name one other "container" if you will that is so readily disposed of as the cigarette butt.

These idiots will throw out any information they believe the general public will believe just to carry through with their agenda's.  Smoker's pay more then their fair share of taxes, and to be banned from a beach of all places is going over the top.

Oak Ridge Labs & SHS Statistics and Data Sciences Group Projects

I think any anti who tries to dismiss the findings of the U.S. Department of Energy labs at Oak Ridge, should be confronted with the question: "Are you saying that DOE researchers committed scientific fraud and that their findings on ETS exposure are untrue?"
