I stopped donating to Hollywood a year ago by seeing their trash movies.

Doesn't work. People won't suffer giving up their playthings.

What we need to understand is that if rich liberals want to salve their social consciences they should do it with their own money. Money states including California have Initiative and referendum. I think their is about 20 states in all. What we need to do is sponsor referendum's to tax movie and other entertainment (including tv and recording) royalties at least 25%. Also We need to tax television networks for each affiliate that they have. Also we can tax advertising and circulation on large urban newspapers. And why not while we are at it put more taxes on Lawyer incomes. I know most of us do not like taxes. But, I think by making the people responsible for our high taxes pay their share (and more) we will be lowering our own. After we start the momentum with state referendum's we can put pressure on our GOP legislatures to enact legislation as well. I am sure that states that have a heavy Oil and Tobacco industry would be very interested to join. since these people are so interested in loading up this country with illegal immigrants and taxing the rich and everybody else it is just hypocrisy for them to not pay and good politics on our side to make them.

we should stop watching network tv - Agreed I got rid of TV years ago I recommend it I feel less enslaved to a particular way of thinking - it's like a weight was lifted from me - difficult at first but well worth it. TV is like having sewerage pumped into my house - now it is garbage free!

It would be great to have a "Shoot your TV" day people could bring their TV's to a firing range and blow the heads off Rather, Jennings Couric et al.

I'm waiting for exceptional 3D animated graphics to replace them--ala Final Fantasy - The Movie. I'm not big on sci-fi, but I was able to watch this animation and had absolutly no problem with the characters not being "real".
Voice actors won't necessarily have to be today's known celebrities.

You are preaching to the choir. I suspect many readers
of this site have already run the calculation, and
decided to spend their money elsewhere, and long ago
at that.

The calculation: before purchasing any entertainment or
"news" product, ask yourself: what percent of each dollar
is going directly to the DNC?

But also keep in mind that it's more effective to focus
your money (and energy) on supporting what you endorse,
than on resisting what you oppose.

Absolutely on target. For the full story on the Hollywood/Madison Avenue Cultural Axis, see The Conquest of Cool Business Culture, Counterculture, and the Rise of Hip Consumerism by MacArthur Genius Award winner Thomas Frank. The scales fell from my eyes when I read this. It not only exposes the HMACA's long-running love affair with the Left, it examines and documents the historical reasons for this relationship. I think it is the most important book of the last 10 years.

Apologists (and denialists) for lefty media bias are fond of asking why the leaders of the most capitalistic, competitive, and ruthless industry in the world, the commercial media, would sit around plotting to overthrow capitalism. Frank provides a comprehensive answer, and it lies in the short term needs of the advertising industry. The "left" as we know it today is little more than an advertising gimmick run amok. Traditional Marxists and other radicals have been quick to capitalize (excuse the expression) but without media support they would be a collection of cranks, rather than a powerful force for evil.

Gee, I wanted to see the new Manchurian Candidate movie this coming month. Since Streep is on the list I guess I'll wait until its on tv.

If anyone in Hollywood had to use the movies I see, the DVD's I purchase and the CD's that go into my shopping cart to live on, they would be among the homeless the democrats care so much about.
