[snip]Monitors showed Kerry, the presumed Democratic presidential nominee, laughing through much of the concert. Afterward, he told the audience that the performers "conveyed the heart and soul of our country." His only quibble was with Goldberg's repeated references to Edwards as "Kid." Kerry said his 51-year-old running mate, who is nine years his junior, is "a man."
Yesterday, Kerry touted his campaign's positive cast, telling a crowd at another fund-raiser, "John and I didn't run one negative ad against each other or any of our opponents all through the primaries and we haven't done a negative ad against George Bush, because we think Americans want real solutions for real problems."
The Radio City event prompted a sharp rebuke from the Bush-Cheney reelection committee, which noted that Kerry attended the concert despite saying earlier on CNN's "Larry King Live" that he had not had enough time to get an intelligence briefing. The administration warned Thursday of Al Qaeda plans to attack the United States and offered to brief Kerry. Kerry's campaign said he has scheduled the briefing for Sunday.
"It is a great example of John Kerry's priorities that on the day he said he did not have time to receive his intelligence briefing on threats to America, he found time to attend a Hollywood fund-raiser, filled with enough hate and vitriol to make Michael Moore blush," Bush-Cheney campaign spokesman Steve Schmidt said.

Later, during a conference call with reporters, Tad Devine, a top Kerry communications strategist, grew animated when asked whether the campaign would release a tape of the event, as the Bush-Cheney committee requested. Doing so might violate copyrights and licensing agreements for the entertainers who performed -- and allow the Bush campaign to use the tape in commercials against Kerry and Edwards, a campaign aide said.
"The hypocrisy of them making a call like that is almost unimaginable," said Devine, adding that Bush and Cheney restrict access to their own campaign events. (In fact, the administration's practice is to let reporters into all fund-raisers except those in private residences. While reporters were invited to the Kerry concert, they were forbidden from recording.)

Somebody, anybody...please get a tape of this event and land it on FR. Pleeeeese...
Exactly. The true hypocrites are the Dems who would dare criticize Cheney over a private comment when they glorify public vulgarity as if it is some sort of virtue.
And remember Kerry's Rolling Stone interview where he used the F-word as if he thought it was cool, KNOWING it would be published?
I think this is bull that "it wasn't recorded" . This is CENSORSHIP!!!!!!
After a male voice (co-host?) made an offhand comment about the casualties in Iraq she had to caution the speaker not to make humor of the U.S. military deaths (save it until they're off the air, I guess). Then she began to whine about how "nasty" Dennis Miller is toward Democrats -- her subconscious made the juxtaposition to the Kerry show but her feeeeeeeeeeeeeeelings didn't get it. Republicans are just too mean, you see.
Kerry and Edwards - one is a "master debater" and the other is a "cunning linguist" - the best that can be said of them after their tacit approval of the latest hatefest. Rest assured, there are many more hatefests to come, because the critical temperature of "Fahrenheit 911" has not yet been reached and because LIBERALISM IS A TERMINAL MENTAL ILLNESS.
Well, we see that Mr. Kerry has soiled his britches again. It is understandable that he doesn't want to take them off to show the world; however, the noise may have been sufficiently loud and the smell so bad that he doesn't have to.
Which proves sKerry is the one still wearing a dirty diaper not Edwards as he had so childishly implied. Silly goose
K&E will be failure if they gets elected. They has no plans, no ideas, and no direction. They are empty suits. No real solutions to real problems. Just talk.
I find it repugnant that you would have a celebrity spokesperson who chooses to trash our country's President in such a filthy and disgusting manner.
However, this is your choice. My choice is to stop buying your product until you put more thought into who you allow to endorse your company.
Thank you.

Thanks...and welcome to FR.

As I'm learning from this thread, I am not entirely well-versed on the incident. But, I'll give it a shot. Basically, Leahy ripped into Cheney all day when Cheney was appearing before the Senate, and then Leahy came up to Cheney afterward and tried to act like Cheney was his good friend. Cheney decided he didn't want any part of that phoney crap, so he told Leahy to either "f- yourself" or "f- off," depending on which version of the story you read. I thought Cheney was overheard saying this, but from this thread, it sounds like Leahy ran to the media.
Obviously, not a real flap, but that's why I put that word in quotations.
