Time for the BUSH campaign to LOCK & LOAD
Drudge Report stories | 7-9-04 | GLDNGUN

We have major TWO issues at play right now that are live grenades. We can't let them slip away out of Kerry's hands. We HAVE to use these issues RIGHT NOW while they are still hot and put Kerry on the defensive.

ISSUE #1 from Drudge:

KERRY PASSES UP TERROR BRIEFING: 'I JUST HAVEN'T HAD TIME' Fri Jul 09 2004 09:23:56 ET

Just hours before attending an all-star celebrity fundraising concert in New York, Dem presidential candidate John Kerry revealed how he has been too busy for a real-time national security briefing.

"I just haven't had time," Kerry explained in an interview.

Kerry made the startling comments on CNN's LARRY KING LIVE Thursday night.

KING: News of the day, Tom Ridge warned today about al Qaeda plans of a large-scale attack on the United States. Didn't increase the -- you see any politics in this? What's your reaction?

KERRY: Well, I haven't been briefed yet, Larry. They have offered to brief me. I just haven't had time.

Developing...

THAT is a Bush campaign commercial right there if I have ever seen one. I hope the Bush04 folks are already working on it. It's simple - you show Bush hard at work, being "Presidential" in fighting the War on Terror. Then you have the narrator say something like, "While President Bush has been hard at work protecting America from terrorism, John Kerry can't even make it to a terror alert briefing for Senators..." Then, you show Kerry on LK making his "I haven't had time" remark. Every GOP talking head and talk show host also need to play up this huge Kerry flub. It was a rare moment of truth from the real Kerry and Americans need to see and know more about the real Kerry.

ISSUE #2 - Kerry campaign won't release concert tape

http://www.washtimes.com/upi-breaking/20040709-010535-2628r.htm

And also from Drudge:

WASHINGTON, DC -- Bush-Cheney '04 Campaign Manager Ken Mehlman issued the following statement on John Kerry's fundraiser last night.

"We have seen John Kerry take two positions on the most important issues facing our country. Now we see him take two sets of positions on his own values.

"If John Kerry is going to praise last night's star-studded hate fest, and characterize it as the 'heart and soul' of America, he should share these values with voters everywhere.

"We call on Kerry to release the video of this event so that all Americans can see what John Kerry has called America's 'heart and soul.'"

Again, every GOP talking head that goes on a talk show should pound on this point. "RELEASE THE TAPES! WHY ARE YOU HIDING THE 'HEART AND SOUL' OF AMERICA!?" It's time democrats quit getting a free ride with this crap. Let's see and hear the tapes and ask if Kerry supports such views. If not, why invite such people when you know they are going to act in such a manner? It's because they want to have their cake and eat it too. They want to wink at such words and actions to indicate approval, while at the same time deny responsibility.

Just like the media should be asking Kerry and the democrats about the F911 movie. Don't let Kerry slide like LK did last night with a "I haven't seen it". Fine, for Kerry and the demos who haven't seen it, repeat to them some of Moore's accusations and ask "Do you agree with Moore's theory that Bush allowed the 9/11 attacks to occur so he would have an excuse to wage war in Afghanistan?", "Do you agree with Moore's contention that Bush allowed terrorists to flee the country because of his supposed close ties to the Saudis", etc. etc. etc.

PUT THESE DEMS ON THE SPOT AND ON THE DEFENSIVE!

Remember how FAST BC04 turned around Kerry's famous "I voted for the war, before I voted against it" and had it in a commercial? I expect something like that might happen again. :) PLEASE, let it happen again! And AGAIN. And AGAIN!

The "Release the Tapes" ad might not have as much traction, but the "I Didn't Have Time" literally made my mouth drop open. It's one thing to blow off something that important; it's another thing to be so unconcerned about it that you admit it on Larry King Live. This is the same guy who said in one of the Democrat party primary debates, "I think the threat of terrorism is overblown," or words to that effect. Put them both in the same commerical, and I truly believe you have an ad as devastating as the nuclear weapons ad that destroyed Goldwater in '64.

Here's how to link these two items, from another thread:

"It is a great example of John Kerry's priorities that on the day he said he did not have time to receive his intelligence briefing on threats to America, he found time to attend a Hollywood fund-raiser, filled with enough hate and vitriol to make Michael Moore blush." -Steve Schmidt, Bush-Cheney '04 Spokesman.

"every GOP talking head that goes on a talk show..."

...isn't going to be taking Kerry to task on this stuff...THAT'S why they're ON those shows.

Perhaps I'll be proven wrong. If I am, I'll gladly pick my jaw up from the floor, from my surprise. I agree that they SHOULD talk about it, but if I've learned anything in my 35 years, there's a difference between "should" and "will".

You are forgiven. It is the truth. The BC04 campaign operation has been PATHETIC.

Yes, we need another Bush/Cheney campaign commercial with Kerry's record against the war, and then play the following clip: KERRY PASSES UP TERROR BRIEFING: 'I JUST HAVEN'T HAD TIME

That might just do Kerry in.

>>President Bush will not fight. It will cost him the election in my view.

At this point I'm afraid I must agree with you. I have the tv on 24 hrs and I almost NEVER hear a Bush commercial. CNN runs Kerry commercials very frequently and they report the news rather like this: "John Kerry campaigned in x today and said (at least 2 Kerry talking points against Bush). Meanwhile George Bush campaigned in y today---period." Every scrap of political and world news is presented with a comment from the left, criticizing the Bush administration. It's presented as news when the President doesn't do something like speak before the NAACP---"first president since Hoover to refuse." The major news outlets have abandoned any pretense of balance.

I listen in vain for any response from the Republicans. They're not fighting back, and the Dems are fighting dirty. As of now, it appears obvious that George Bush is going down in flames.

It's called "Rope-a-Dope. There's still plenty of time left until the election.

Hardhitting right now - while most people are not giving their full attention to politics - will only prove tiresome towards the end. Case in point: Kerry's bounce occurred immediately after it was evident he was to be the nominee after only a few primaries. For almost a year the Democrats pounded at Bush. Now Kerry's campaign is in the doldrums. No way will Kerry ever gain the momentum back - just like a tired fighter.

I agree, W is "too nice".
Where is this brilliant attack dog the DUmmies call Karl Rove?
I fear we will lose to the HORRID would-be leaders, our country is finished, unless some Freepers can give me hope that will actually prove W is going to come out swinging, especially with so much ammo.

A lot depends on where you live. Here in Texas, we don't see many commercials for either candidate: Bush has this state in his hip pocket, so deep Kerry can't hope to snatch it.

However, we were in Washington State recently, where we saw oodles of campaign ads for both candidates. Most of them I'd only seen on-line, if at all.

To: Graymatter; All

It may appear that way to you, to me it appears we finally are going on the offensive. We finally are regaining the offensive.

I have a question for all that believe Bush is campaigning for defeat. IF he wins, especially if it is by a margin that is greater than 2000, will these statements be retracted about the strategy in effect? Will the statements that the American people are "sheeple" be retracted?
