This is not just a poll.
They are vetting out various arguments against assault weapons. You have to cast a total of 5 votes to vote no against "assault weapons". They are looking arguments that can convince the sheeple to support an extension of the "assault weapon" ban.
Cast your vote! Vote no 5 times!

Your link doesn't seem to work. I'd love to vote as well as give them a piece of my mind about the slanted poll design if there is a place for comments.

Wow. 96% against the ban. I'm impressed. I voted.
To: Fun Bob
according to historian Michael Bellesiles Isn't this the guy who was totally discredited by the very univeristy or institution under which he did his so-called research?
To: Fun Bob
Okay, now it worked. Just took about three minutes, that's all.
To: Integrityrocks
FReeped...but with only 4% against--we have lots of work to do.
To: Fun Bob
What a BS poll. You say no and it tries to con you in to saying yes
To: RockinRight
Wait, was it 4% against or 4% for? I can't get back in now.
To: RockinRight
See #6 above. My result was similar.

Un fricken' believable! Definitely go vote ... and vote no five times. Unreal how they try to convince you to change your vote all the way through the poll ... until they finally admit that only the final vote really counts.
Owell ... looks like the good guys are winning on that one. Vote NO five times and do your part.

NPR is searching for arguments to use that will convince people to support the AWB.
Aye', it's a crock.

"Michael Bellesiles"
The very one. He was discredited and fired. He made up his "research" and got nailed.

Freeped the poll. It isn't the weapon that kills it's the human finger behind it. I do believe class 3 licenses should remain in effect for fully auto weapons. 96% said the federal gov't should not continue the ban. From the poll, it mentioned cases like the DC snipers. Well, an innocent person is just as dead from a lunatic killer using a 5 shot .223 hunting rifle (bolt action) as they would be from a 10 shot .223 semiautomatic AR-15 or similar weapon. Let's just ban criminals, insane people, and stupid liberals.

Although I only skimmed the arguments presented, it looks like it tends to use 'assault weapon', 'semiautomatic weapon' and 'gunrelated crimes' interchangably. If crimes involving semiauto's are indeed down, it obviously occurred without this silly ban. I can make the argument that banning guns with bayonet lugs seems to have reduced crimes committed with bayonets as well, but I don't know what it proves.
