Greetings everyone.
I was just walking past Radio City Music Hall in NYC a few minutes ago and remembered that the delayed "Stars for Kerry" concert is going on tonight. Might be a good FReep possibility if folks are available.
The one person who's there already is a lone Vietnam Veteran with a few protest signs and a bible. He's associated with the Vietnam Veterans Against John Kerry website.
There's a crowd of mostly female NY libs milling around the Radio City so he was happy to speak to someone with words of encouragement. I'll probably stop down again after work today.
Anyone working in midtown might want to pop out and say hello. He knows of FreeRepublic but hasn't visited. I encouraged him to do so.
The concert at Radio City tonight will feature the Dave Matthews Band, Mary J. Blige, John Mellencamp, Jon Bon Jovi, Wyclef Jean, Whoopi Goldberg and others.
Here are some previous threads on these concerts:
Movie, Music Stars to Raise Millions for Kerry
"OUR GOVERNOR can beat up YOUR CANDIDATE!" - FRN to protest "Stars for Kerry" concert in Los Angeles
Stars Take Center Stage at Kerry Fund-Raisers
STARS WILL SHINE AT KERRY FUND-RAISERS (the usual suspects to perform)
Thanks for the heads up. I'll stop by to encourage him at lunchtime.
Thanks for doing that. Wish I was there.
New York Bump
Good to hear. Wish I were there.
Thanks for the ping. I'm sorry I'm up-town today.
Prayers and a hearty "well done" for this gentleman.
Wish I was closer, I'd join him.
JON BON JOVI - Old, washed-up hair-band shrieker.
WHOOPI GOLDBERG - Unfunny self-caricature whose unfunny series was appropriately zotted.
WYCLEF JEAN - Who?... or , rather, What?
JOHN MELLENCAMP - Preening, self-righteous, drugged-out no-talent.
BETTE MIDLER - Homely no-talent who made a career covering the songs of her betters (The Andrews Sisters, Patti Page, etc.) and always, ALWAYS sings flat! (Her series was canceled too. Remember?)
JAMES TAYLOR - Silver-spooner who rebounded from drug addiction to make a career as a phony folkie.
ROBIN WILLIAMS - Mr. Irritating. Comics I met at the comedy clubs in L.A. claimed he regularly stole their material.
I still listin to old Bob Jovi songs, but will not buy anything new. I am on the left coast so I cannot stop by & freep, but I appreciate all the folks who do.
I also listen to the songs....DOH!
.

NEVER FORG
Gee, genuine Vietnam veterans versus whack psuedo-celebrities who couldn't carry the jocks of real stars from Hollywood's "Golden Age."
I wonder who has the upper hand in that little tete-a-tete?
Hey Mellencamp! YOU SUCK!!!
It happens to the best of us.
I used to listen to "The Offspring" for goodness sake!
Now, how do you think I'll be able to explain that to prospective employers, girlfriends, in-laws?(!)
Mark for later -- check out the VV against Kerry website.

Bump to that!
My own cover of a classic punk song:
(Extended bass riff. Extremely loud, canyoning echo effect made by Dexter Holland/chorus vocals. He then smooths back ridiculous, dyed-blond hair.)
