There is, especially among young Americans, a vacuum of political knowledge that exists and is unfortunately filled by academia and the media.

Mike Rosen is interviewing Brent Bozell on the air right now about this article and topic.

KOA Radio, 850 AM - Denver, Colorado.

Mike Rosen is a (very good) conservative talk radio host from 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Mon-Fri.

The media wanted this war more than anybody did, they put pressure on, just before the war if Bush had returned the Troops, there would have been another outcry, The Media could't wait to get there,, Then they got a reality check, and didn't like what they saw a War. not a movie. So they think its all Bush and Blair's fault, blame them. for everything.

Not only the media, but Democrats themselves would be treating the war in Iraq as a war of liberation. I'll repeat what's often said about the war in Kosovo:

1. No threat to U.S.security.
2. No U.N. approval (not even requested).
3. No post-war plan (situation still unresolved, five years after the war).
4. No national debate - there truly was a "rush to war."
5. "Genocide" claims were exaggerated.
6. We were immersing ourselves in ancient ethnic/religious quagmire.
7. Civilians bore the brunt of the conflict - targeting of infrastructure (NO American military casualties - a coward's war?)
8. Use of depleted uranium.
9. Siding with terrorists (KLA).

So most Dems supported a war that had many of the same alleged defects as the war in Iraq.

Exactly! Where is Michael Moore's "documentary" about Kosovo? Where were the marches and demonstrations in the streets? Didn't happen because the "good guys" were in office.

Absolutely, this was a good read! Thanks for the ping.

I wonder how Bozell's book will compare with Bernie Goldberg's Bias? I plan to pick this up when I can, and suspect it will build on the points Goldberg made - that the bias is internal rather than institutional, that it is personal rather than conspiratorial, and that it is simply compounded by the fraternity of journalism school graduates.

No wonder Fox News gives 'em fits. The folks at Fox are shaking the core beliefs of all the others.

I believe it was Ann Coulter that said (correct me if I'm wrong someone) that "The liberal media still acts as if there's no such thing as a Lexis-Nexis search." I can log into Free Republic and find stats and rebuttals to liberal claims days before they show up on Fox News or Rush Limbaugh. It's a brave new world for information and the conservatives are dominating.

I taught "newswriting 1" at a local community college a few months ago and a few of them (it was a small class) were obvious lefty types who wanted to make a difference. I told them to ask for a refund from the course and go into social work, then beat them over the head for the rest of the course with the unusual (to them) focus of newswriting being about getting the truth, and that if their opinions showed up in the stories it would affect their grades.

At the end of the class at least two of them told me they were no longer interested in reporting but wanted, instead, to do features and/or op eds.

I counted that as a small victory.
Cheers
Jim
