I have lond said that the mainstream press reflect the views and concerns of the average member of the Democrat elite. Of course, we had that study that came out recently proving such to be true.

As such, your average leftist sees the mainstream media as balanced - because it reflects their views and biases. The hard left sees it as "right wing" because honestly the bias of the news is to the right of them. The right and center, obviously, see the bias for what it is.

So for a long time the left argued there was no bias and the right argued, correctly, that there was.

The recent change of most of the left to arguing that there is a conservative bias is indeed part political gamesmenship to preserve their media weapon, as Bozell mentions - but it is more a part of a more disturbing trend...

Namely, the Democrats and Left have been getting more and more radical since the y2k election. As they move farther left they too now see rightwing bias even as the mainstream press moves as far left as it can.

While this makes it easier for Republicans to get elected - imagine for a moment Bush facing a moderate, pro-war Democrat come 2004, instead of the far-left Kerry - it bodes serious ill for the American political system as a whole.

If you recall the media tried to give FL to Gore in 2000
VNS was a private consortium owned by
ABC News, The Associated Press, CBS News, CNN, Fox News, and NBC.

All 5 of the networks and cable newsrooms "announced" Gore had won
BEFORE the 2nd time zone in FL had closed.
This cost President Bush votes in the FL panhandle.
I was at a friends house and the State of FL election website results showed President Bush was winning
WHILE the big 5 media TV and Cable newsrooms "announced their" winner.

The big 5 media TV and Cable newsrooms are the real threat to the 2004 election.

..."Early on Tuesday, November 7th 2000, TV stations and various media based in Florida reported that Gore has won Florida which was a big surprise for everyone because of strong republican support. Bush's brother Jeb is governor there and Florida usually gives support to the Republicans. Some of them questioned that and during the night CNN showed 52% Bush's lead over 46% for Gore. It is almost impossible to believe that media could have been that blind and biased to report Gore's victory."...

Now THAT was history in the making!

The difference between that great day and if some libs did the same at Fox N Friends, Steve, Brian and ED would go out to them and challenge them to debate.
Something that the BS librat Jazerra media outlets like the one above doesn't have the courage to do.

So ya think Al Gorp was referring specifically to Freepers when he spoke of digital brownshirts (as has been suggested)?

Great article. I think that less and less people are relying on traditional media for their news. TV news media are speaking to an ever decreasing number of viewers.

Our biggest problem is probably in radio, where most stations pipe in the ABCBSNBC garbage. One is more likely to hear the liberal spin as they drive to work.

More and more people are using the internet which probably starts right out with MSNBC garbage. As they venture out, they hopefully choose other sources.

Possibly. Don't forget what group was yelling "Get out of Cheney's house!" after the 2000 election.
